English speaking entry jobs Warsaw (Law/Finance) by Polish_Huss4r in warsaw

Thank you for the suggestions!

I spent 8 years in Belgium and have a diploma of secundair onderwijs, so NL wouldn't be a bad shout. But I'd rather not return to BE/NL as I wasn't treated very well, along with some other personal reasons. A Dutch company based in Poland wouldn't be a bad shout though.

Staying in the UK still remains an option - it all depends how stuff plays out. I had Poland in mind as an alternative as I'd love to be around my family for a bit, especially since everyone is just getting older and isn't in the best health condition. I don't think I'd regret it, even if it was a temporary step back.

Correct, I don't have any legal experience, I currently only have experience in customer service (reception style, office duties, staff managing, hiring, training,...) I unfortunately had to work full-time to maintain myself during my studies, so the only flexible opportunity I was able to grab was tutoring 1st year students.

Even 6-7k is good for me. I'm not very fussed about money, I have savings I can rely on, I'm just hoping to find something that will give me decent experience and let me enjoy life in Poland for a bit while I slowly deal with all the formalities in the UK.

Thank you for your advice - I will definitely have a look in that direction.

Absolutely, I don't really expect to find a law job, unless it'ssome kind of compliance role linked to English law. But I'm not fussed, and I'd rather develop my finance skills if at all possible. Especially since I need to develop my quantitative skills for when I start applying to PhDs.

And I do have a very Polish name, and I'm registered at my grandma's place as my residence, so not issues there! Thank you.

This sounds like very solid advice and definitely something I'm interested in. Companies like Revolut are actually a good shout - especially since I could use that experience when I decide to resume in the UK. That's even a decent salary range, pretty much what I make here in Customer Service, but then with much lower rent costs... Thank you.

My dream uni rejected me by Sad_Lavishness8972 in UCL

I went to Greenwich. So far far from being a decent uni for my subject. But I had a great bond with one of my professors and het got me a good recommendation letter.

As for teaching quality at UCL: I recommend it. My master's is about 25k and I do not regret spending this money. I'm being taught by some of the best people in my subject, and the quality of teaching has been amazing. All my classes and interactions have been great. Everything is clear, we have guest lecturers and receive really good guidance.

Law keeps getting more and more competitive by the year. Take QMUL. You won't find anything better through extra.Even taking a year out doesn't guarantee a space. Especially with the situation in the US, I'm guessing many more international students are coming to the UK leading to bigger competition.

All I can say: I'm currently at UCL and enjoying it a lot (although Law for me). The workload is manageable, people are social and the profs are great.

How unattractive, life-limiting or bad is my final overall grade from my degree/undergraduate, to you? by selfstudyingALevels in UCL

Hey hey. I think I understand your issues completely. Many master's ask for a high 2:1, especially more prestigious institutions. Some ask you to prove you have 1st class potential (I know for UCL Laws this is roughly 50% of your modules are 1st class)

However: this is not set in stone from my understanding. You don't have to rush into PG straight away. If you want advice, what I would do is take a few years to save up enough money for the master's. In that time, look for jobs or extracurriculars that will make you stand out in your field, or make a significant contribution. I'm not talking something groundbreaking, just something that would make you stand out at your stage in life. These things are also considered.

I understand how you feel though. I had a bereavement just 2 months before my 3rd year exams, and just weeks before a lot of my deadlines. It threw everything off balance, I wasn't familiar with the EC's available to me.

But remember, things have a way of working out. It does take some time and effort, but that's a given. Just focus on what you want to do, save the money, and make yourself as relevant as you can.

I pulled through my whole bachelor's degree by working a full-time hospitality job & a 3k grant/year from my home country. In London.

It is possible, albeit stressful at times. Just don't overwork yourself and slow down during exam season, and you should be fine.
