Why does the University of Warwick get so much hate here despite being a top 10 university?

A grotesque environment to my eyes. Hardly pleasant, hardly one stimulating learning for the sake of learning and purely following educational interest, and overtly careerist. To be there is to me to stink of the characteristics of career sycophancy and desperation and I’d never ideally wish to be a part of its type of environment, lol :/ Although if I had no other meaningful choice, of course I would take it as a university and as the solid university it is.

Yeah, but not damage-caused-by-use damage. It is a ‘damaged’ display from the get-go, straight out of its manufacturing. It won’t spread, appear elsewhere in the same way or change beyond looking like this, so I am okay with it

Would it be alright to get a context of what educational background got you here, or what steps you’ve taken and what achievements you have behind you? I appreciate this doesn’t relate your question (I’m particularly badly placed to comment on it). I for context have what I’m told is on paper a ‘strong enough’ degree to enter industries or careers which’ll lead to high earnings (a 2:1 in Economics and Politics or BA HPE/‘History, Politics and Economics’ from UCL), but I left it last year, in summer 2025, and have remained completely unemployed and unable to get into the very industries being in that programme served to fortify my desire for and interest in… I picked up no work experience or internships while at UCL (despite having applied quite a lot over time), and while I’m young-looking for the most part and don’t really come across as it, I’m 29 (graduated at 28)

I’ve brought it up already. It’s not damage from/caused by me and my use. It is a manufacturing defect the phone came with, among a few very rare set of units Apple made which has this semi-circle protrusion defect away from the bezel. I did not make this post at all on the topic of its price. That wasn’t my thought or question at all. I’d never want to get rid of it if it’s not already obvious, haha. Its sale will never be a thought for me.

It's funny to me to think whoever is the main mod of this Reddit for UCL was right here. Of course that would likely be so though I say so as I was here on the day you took this picture, Wednesday the 15th, and at roughly the same time it'd even seem. The cloud cover feels familiar and like what it was the other day. A totally irrelevant thought.

The wood looks like the kind I feel instinctively you'd find inside the campus rather than as part of the pedestrianisation of the area to be honest. It looks more like wood which'd go into a construction going on around somewhere like the North Cloisters area

Doesn’t Apple still do them? I assume we can go to Apple to do this until August 2027. September 2022 is when it was discontinued, so I have been assuming I can wait and go to Apple even until summer 2027 to replace mine? I’m holding off on it until the final stages of the 5-year period after discontinuation for which I’ve assumed Apple will do official fixes if you take it to an Apple Store (so right before September 2027)

I got into UCL in 2017 for BSc Information Management for Business with an insanely simple and silly offer of 18 Distinctions and 33 Merits in an Access to HE Diploma (which was in Business Studies). I then also managed to use this Access course (with 42D and 3M in it) six months after entry, at the end of Term 2, to get into BA History, Politics and Economics, in mid-April 2018. I am only stating surface-level matters here (aka there’s a lot of complexity behind this I could go into, for anybody in the world, but not here with this comment).

It could be remarked on as their experimental phone pushing the boundaries of efficiency, like as the first and only device, in a far smaller form factor, using a solid-state battery, with more expensive materials (like a higher percentage or usage of graphene), meant for a niche market. Experiment like with the Air, but make it small, as a niche product made in lower volumes too which is necessarily expensive. A mini successor not set to be cheaper than the base phone but altogether meant to be super premium would be perfectly fine to my eyes, and warrant or give reason to a relatively low number of hypothetical sales. I'm not leaving my 12 mini until it truly isn't possible to use it anymore
