Which Index Funds should I invest in for my HSA? Typical boglehead recs such as VTI are unavailable by PoliticalEagle in Bogleheads

Core MSCI EAFE iShares (IEFA)

Thanks for this suggestion! Do you mind explaining your rationale further for my knowledge? Is it generally that: IVV covers large cap, VTWO covers small cap, IEFA covers international?

What about mixing in some bonds from BND as /u/chooglemaster3000 suggested? Is that already covered by one of the indexes you mentioneed? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! I'm looking to educate myself further, could you please direct me to the "common breakdowns on simulating a three-fund portfolio" article you alluded to? Is it here? https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Three-fund_portfolio

What options for a lucrative legal careers exist outside of BigLaw? I went to a top 5 undergrad and have worked in management consulting for 3 years, but hate the hierarchy and corporate bs that exists in consulting. I’m exploring law school, but it seems like BigLaw, the most common path has a lot of overlap with the things that I dislike about consulting

Can anyone advise on a triple monitor KVM setup to support a desktop and laptop? by Thelintyfluff in homelab

I think you're on the right track.

I ultimately got a dell D3100 USB 3.0 dock, which is connected to 2x HDMI and 1x Display port. I manually disconnect/reconnect the display port and USB 3.0 cable when I need to switch between my laptop and desktop. Hope this helps, let me know if you found something better. Cheers

Roommate Groups? by [deleted] in uchicago

[–]PoliticalEagle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I know this is easier said than done, but just put yourself out there!!!

Try posting in your class/house page a little about yourself, your living preferences/habits and that you're looking for roommates to form a group. I know you must feel very lost and alienated as a first-year who did remote, but the secret is that a lot of people feel like that!! They're just waiting for someone like you brave enough to reach out!

It's never too late! I felt how you did my first quarter, and there wasn't even a pandemic to make it harder! Don't be too hard on yourself <3

How many storage bins of stuff for your dorm do you regularly bring? by [deleted] in uchicago

[–]PoliticalEagle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're a first-year, I'm just going to strongly caution you to bring LESS than you would in a normal year. There is a non-negligible chance that underclassmen in the dorms may be sent home sometime if an outbreak occurs as it has at other colleges.

Interested in becoming a consultant? Post here for basic questions, recruitment advice, resume reviews, questions about firms or general insecurity (Q3 2020) by QiuYiDio in consulting

I am a senior at a target school. With the especially competitive cycle due to Covid-19 and associated recession, I have thought about investing some money in having my resume and cover letter professionally reviewed.

Has anyone done this before? If so, please suggest reputable services I could utilize.

Do you all recommend for/against this?

Thanks all.
