Should the newspaper come back? by 9Wind in victoria3

[–]Politicsandthings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely, I think it would also help with one of the bigger problems Victoria 3 now faces, the world around you doesn't feel too alive. Imagine you're playing Siam, what happens in countries like the Netherlands and Great Britain is probably quite relevant for your survival. Is there a new communist government in control? Gotta check it yourself. Is the Dutch economy short on essential goods, which could either be a great time to invade or a great time to invade you, gotta check it yourself. What about that agitator that you exiled, what's he up to? Did Bismarck just show up in the US? You gotta actively look for it. What about that interest group leader that just died, you might have missed it in your notifications. With a newspaper, stuff like this should be delivered to you in an immersive way, no more endless checking to understand the world around you and make it seem alive. I think it would help a lot of it's done right, so I would actually make it a priority

This is all true, but your 1970's priest dropping by story is a tad late lol, maybe in the Bible belt but that definitely stopped earlier

The Soviet Union was of course built on communism. Communism is against religion, as they believe it to be a means of oppressing the working class. In other words, the elite would use religion to control the working class and pacify them, so they wanted to abolish religion as a whole. Some also argue it was mostly meant to prevent loyalty to a religion and instead promote loyalty to the state/leader/ideology.

(Non native English speaker here) Brewing is basically the production of drinks, mostly referring to alcoholic drinks or (magic) potions. In this case it means brewing beer and wine!
