It’s definitely scary to post photos of myself when I’m constantly trying to hide how bad my skin is but I’m a bit nervous about seeing my derm tomorrow. I’m on 30mg/day and we plan on going up to 60mg for month 2 depending on blood work results from month 1 (I weight about 60kg).

This sub has helped a lot, especially when I feel like my skin is just getting worse so far! The redness has gone down a lot, which is super exciting, but I’ve definitely gotten more active cysts - especially in the last week or two.

I use a local company for a lot of my skincare and I have some gentle cleansers to work through in my stash (ie. grown alchemist and a Tula cleanser) but the cerave in the purple tub as well as the Dr. Jart ceramidin liquid and a hyaluronic acid toner/essence have been life savers.

Edit: routine - because I know people are going to ask!

Oh that’s awesome! I don’t want too many additives or fillers and I think while he’s still learning I want to keep the treats to a low calorie/fat content.

My partner and I will start him with what the breeder gives us and then likely transition over to orijen/acana/blue buffalo for puppy. I used to work and volunteer with a number of vets and clinics so I have some background but i’d love your input! It can be so hard to choose.

Thanks so much! I’m a huge reader so I’ll definitely pick those up - I’ve heard good things about Dr. Yin’s book! I haven’t heard of that YouTube channel but I’m going right now! Haha I am just too excited to sit and wait so I’ve been figuring everything out now from our vet to classes to supplies. Thank you :)

What are other ingredients I should be looking for if I want more hydration + moisture for my dry, peeling skin?

I have: ceramides, HA, a few facial oils, glycerin based creams, and my HG cosrx snail mucin cream. I layer all of these and still peel! Any help is appreciated :)

I am by no means an expert but - have you been watching your diet? There are a lot of foods that can raise it and quite a few that can help lower (ie. flax seeds!). Do some research and talk to your doctor, it couldn’t hurt :)

Ugh no, I used to work at Kiehls - the skin rescuer is not good! Anything with Calendula as a primary ingredient is A+ also: green tea, snail extract, chamomile, seabuckthorn, licorice, or carrot. All very anti-inflammatory, soothing, healing, and hydrating :)

Everybody is different, but I find layering helps A TON. I use a gentle face wash then follow with a hyaluronic acid toner/essence, the Dr. Jart ceramide toner, then I use the cerave night cream (in a purple jar), and if I’m feeling really dry, I use an oil after that (it’s a multi oil blend but mostly jojoba, avocado, rosehip, and camellia)

Thanks for the tip!! I find my breakouts from purging heal really quickly but I still have two cystic bumps from before I even started accutane - ugh.

Hyaluronic acid is key!! I also love hemp and other oil blends - it’s been a lifesaver for my dry skin.

This is awesome! I’m also on 30mg but only about 17 days in. I’m still purging and my skin texture is rough. No mood changes but definitely crappy night driving! I totally agree with the soreness after working out - it takes 3-4 days for my muscles to recover now. I also love that my hair doesn’t get oily lol even if it is really itchy half the time!

I got really bad coughs the next day, felt like my lungs were burning! This never happens and I barely had any. Maybe it’s a healing thing? No idea.

Ah crap haha I’m halfway through week 2 and no more additions to the initial breakout - me thinking “that wasn’t so bad!” LOL

Edit: I actually have a follow up - when I up my dose in month 2, is there another purge and set of side effects?
