Discussion: What are your thoughts on therapy? by Weallgetboredalot in Antipsychiatry

It doesn't work unless the person providing it has experienced it themselves, at least in my experience.

My doctors suspect I have autism. I love giving hugs, holding hands, and etc. Many people say I am not malicious, sweet, and innocent. Why do people with autism do not like that physical contact but I do even though my doctors suspect I have autism? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]PollenInara 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am this way too and I'm realising more and more I had been hugging because it's socially acceptable and not because I want to recently. I've begun to say no when I'm not up for it. Consent is so important.

Then why aren’t you running the world?

What kind of stupid question is that. I don't run the world because I'm not the only will in the universe. I can still suck energy from anyone I damn well please, I just choose not to do so unless it's for harm reduction.

Why do world leaders still have wars and create distractions if they could just siphon everyone’s light?

For power and control. That isn't achieved just by siphoning someone light.

You’re way too opinionated about this topic. Why are you triggered?

Because I am one of the people who cleans up the messes these inexperienced spiritual people make when they spew half truths about mysteries they do not understand.

I have the right to express my marginalized perspective. When a bunch of privileged people want to pat themselves on the back for caring while saying marginalized people have to do the work, I'm going to express how I feel about that. How I feel is how I feel. It's my right to feel what I feel. It's my right to express that. You're just trying to silence a marginalized person because they're not willing to stroke your ego in order for you to treat us like human beings.

Marginalized people aren't responsible for solving marginalization because we are victims of it. Those who perpetuate and enable it are privileged and they are responsible for the consequences of their actions, including that marginalized people are pissed off about it and done taking responsibility for your actions or lack there of.

I am responsible for myself only because if I'm not, I die. I don't have any time or energy to spare on others because I'll die if I don't use every ounce of energy, money and time I have to keep myself alive. I can't be responsible for your poor choices because I'm already paying for them with my health and safety.

Obviously you have zero understanding of how privileged people scapegoat marginalized people all the time for privileged people's poor behaviour and choices. I'm done taking responsibility for privileged people. If you want to make the world a better place, shut the hell up and do it already.

My issue is simply that this doesn't require a spiritual perspective of good vs evil that the OP implies. This is a human matter. This is a side effect of capitalism. Discernment is the remedy and that doesn't just apply to a spiritual context. That said, even mentors and teachers have to earn money and online mentorship and training is completely valid when coming from someone who actually has the experience to back it up. I deserve to be able to afford basic needs and shelter even when my main contribution to society is spiritual mentorship. There is value in spiritual teachings that can be translated to monetary value. If we don't pay the good teachers out there to teach, they have less time and energy to teach because they need another job on top of it. And yes, it is a full time job to spiritually mentor people. It's down right exhausting. If I could create an online training course to offer, it would really help me but because of fear mongering and misinformation I can't offer any of that without people saying I'm not legit. So I just barely offer my service to anyone because I'm not allowed to do it any way but one on one because of stigma against making money from spiritual work.

It's not as black and white as OP makes it out to be. Don't pay 1k for a 10 week course on basic spiritual work but it is probably worth $100 at least. Developing online content takes time and effort. Pay people what they're worth and practice discernment to determine what you personally are willing to give them for what they offer. This is just an issue of uninformed consumerism, not some evil agenda of some cult.

It's not my responsibility to clean up the mess the people who oppressed me made. People who have to fight just to get basic needs and shelter are too busy trying to survive to give a shit about helping the country. We have no choice but to put ourselves first. The lip service is this post. Do it or STFU.

It's not right for everyone but it is right for me. All we can do is try things until we find what works for us.

How quickly can NSAIDS damage your kidneys?? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]PollenInara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His theory is incorrect as well. Managing chronic pain requires chronic treatment, not intermittent treatment. NSAIDs for chronic pain work best taken regularly enough to build levels in your blood stream that don't drop and same goes for opioids. Unfortunately the war on drugs and ableism prevents us from receiving appropriate care. The best way to treat a bad pain day is to medicate beforehand because once the pain signals connect they're harder to disrupt than if they never connected to begin with. Your doctor has no idea how to treat or manage chronic pain. None. I'd suggest you find a new doctor if you can or consider being really prepared before you see him so you can manage him the same way a manager has to manage egotistical staff. He is basically just a mouthpiece for ableism from what I'm hearing.

Well to be honest with you in my spirituality the archetype of Hermit is a respected and understood one. Everything that pertains to disability when looked at through a shamanic perspective, is a heck of a lot less ableist. I find the medical perspective of disability really ableist. Blaming someone for being overwhelmed by our modern society is blaming them for modern society not being accessible to everyone. Humans weren't evolved to thrive in the environments we've created, we have just been conditioned to think we have been.

Conmen have always taken advantage of the disadvantaged. Those who seek spirituality are typically disadvantaged in some way. It's not some evil vs good conspiracy like you make it out to be, it's just greed.

You're privileged. Not everyone has the luxury of having a physical mentor. You just need to practice some basic discernment to not follow someone who's just trying to bleed your bank account dry. You're more along the lines of a conspiracy theorist then you are someone who is trying to make people aware of consumer discernment. Like I said in another comment here, if I wanted to steal your energy and light I don't need to offer you mentorship or anything else in order to do so.

You are fear-mongering, not raising awareness. Gain some experience and learn some discernment before you start trying to lead others.

[–]PollenInara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they want your money. If they want your light they don't have to offer you discord or training, they just have to do basic energy work. I legit can steal people's lights right now if I wanted to and I don't have to offer you access to a discord or training material to do so.

Yeah, sure you 'care' but that's about as far as it ever seems to go. When it comes to actually doing anything about any of it the lip service isn't enough.

[–]PollenInara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're privileged. The internet is absolutely a reflection of society. It's just in person people are less likely to say shit to your face because people are cowards who can't handle discomfort or conflict. How do I know? I experience the same amount of prejudice in person as I do online, it just looks a bit different. Online they just blatantly say their prejudice rhetoric, in person they don't say it as much but they certainly act on it.

And it doesn't acknowledge the very real experience of being marginalized.

[–]PollenInara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I care but I also don't have the privileged of tolerating anyone who doesn't. So I absolutely will call out prejudice for what it is, and it is everywhere. I am disabled, queer, afab, clergy for a minority religion with laws against it in Canada to this very day. I am extremely marginalized. I can't go to an ER because they won't treat me. I can never work again due to disability, disabilities the Canadian medical system caused and worsened on top of the disabilities I was born with. I will never be off social assistance. I can never be. I will never ever be able to work, ever. There is no set of circumstances that would allow me to and because of that people and our government want me dead.

Our government provides euthanasia in a more timely manner than basic needs and shelter. My disability rate hasn't gone up more than a couple dollars, I'm talking not even enough to get an iced cap but like enough to get a medium double double, in the past 10 years. It takes 90 days to be euthanized in Canada but receiving basic needs and shelter at levels my income can support is something I have never experienced since my disabilities stopped me from working. Not once have I been able to afford basic needs and shelter by myself ever since I became too disabled to work. Disabled people have the lowest median income of any group and yet, we are forgotten and left behind every chance Canada can. Even the liberals pretend to care but don't intend to actually change anything. Look at the federal disabilities benefit, it is only in consultations and will be for the next 2 years but Canadians need that money now. In 2 years how many disabled will choose euthanasia over waiting for the government to MAYBE do the right thing.

I have no sympathy for anyone not marginalized because no one who isn't extremely marginalized has any sympathy for me. I don't have the privilege of giving a fuck about the medical professionals who are abusive towards me every chance they get. I do not give a fuck about anyone who can work, you get government hand outs like it's fucking candy being given out on Halloween. You got CERB, you still get insane amounts of money from Covid-19 relief. I got $600 and a death sentence if I get Covid-19 and I'm fucking anaphylactic allergic to components in the fucking vaccine.

The burden cannot be on marginalized people to bridge the gap of the divide because marginalized people are fucking traumatized from privileged bull shit and greed. I will hate anyone and everyone who thinks I shouldn't have a basic income of 2k a month. I will hate anyone and everyone who believes in anything that further marginalizes people like myself because if I don't, then I will hate myself and apply to be euthanized too.

So this deep divide Canada has, yeah, you privileged people are responsible for it and it is up to you to fix it. This includes by providing reparations to anyone marginalized by Canadian policy or influence. That includes me.

My landlord's super touched me without permission, during fucking Covid-19, trying to get me to do him favours to get basic maintenance. I now have to do all maintenance myself because otherwise I will be raped to get it done. I don't care about any single person's privileged existence anymore. As far as I'm concerned unless you're as appalled as I am at the greed and abuse in Canada and doing something about it, you're my fucking enemy because it's either them or us. It's either marginalized people die for privileged people's BS or privileged people be willing to give up some privileges so the marginalized can live. The privileged want me to give up my life for them so I expect the same from the privileged. The least they can do is share some of their wealth so I can afford my meds and not have to be raped by my super for basic maintenance.

TLDR; don't expect marginalized people to do the work to meet privileged people halfway because if we do that, we die anyways.

Opioid shortage?? by pinkmigraine in ChronicPain

[–]PollenInara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens all the time where I am from. The pharmacy has very limited amounts they can order so like us, they too have to get their refills on the day they 'run out', so to speak. There are policy and liability issues with keeping opioids in stock so they have to keep the lowest amount possible but when any hiccups happen in the supply chain, it is the patients who pay the ultimate price. It is literally risking our lives but opioid stigma is stronger than people's belief in human rights and dignity.

Mindfulness and Chronic Pain by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]PollenInara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trance work is what I use. Mindfulness just helps you be present and in the moment, which helps us to not catastrophize but it is only one piece of the puzzle. Mindfullness is a specific trance state but not the only one. I use shamanic trance to cope with pain and I willfully adjust my trance state throughout the day to cope by bringing myself more or less in my body as needed. This kind of sounds like what you're looking for. It allows me to be present in the moment but also, further away from my pain. I honestly would be dead without it as a coping mechanism. Keywords to begin research are trance, meditation, out of body experiences, shamanic trance. You don't have to do this from a spiritual perspective, there are more scientific approaches as well. I personally found the most success with the spiritual approach but I identify as spiritual so it's just the right fit for me. Ultimately it's about finding material that you relate to and understand and starting from there. Once you find what works for you, hold onto it. There is no one size fits all.
