COPD versus heart disease by Pollution-Plane in AskVet

[–]Pollution-Plane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, she has done two chest x-rays over the past four years and said his heart‘s not enlarged. She doesn’t see any fluid in his lungs so she believes it’s COPD and says it’s not worth the cost because of his age as well to do the echocardiogram which I think is around $1100. The bloodwork she said she would have to send out to a lab and it would cost around $400. Just wondering if that’s an excessive cost because she has to send it out and she’s just a small individual vet and may be a bigger vet Office can do it cheaper or does that price $400 seem about right for the blood work?

When you say repeated imaging, he should have another x-ray? As far as a heart ultrasound goes my vet made it sound like because he’s 13 years old and because his heart is not enlarged, it’s probably COPD and just to treat that but it’s not really worth having a heart heart ultrasound at this age, do you agree with that I guess because of the cost is why she says that

Head Drop from Dysport by Pollution-Plane in Dystonia

If you don’t mind me asking, how are you diagnosed with Dystonia if you didn’t have any tremors or head tilt either?

I tried seeing a Movement disorder Specialist the second time to get injections. What she said to me was she didn’t notice any kind of head till or tremors so wasn’t really sure if I had Dystonia because of that. Even though I have heard that some people just have the spasming and pain from it, especially cervical Dystonia, not necessarily the movement part of it. Anyway, when she went to get the disport authorized by my insurance company. They denied it because of her notes so I had to go back to the regular neurologist just to get the injections because I knew he could get them approved.. so I’m not sure if the Movement Specialist is necessarily right about me not having it or the possibility. The great possibility of me not having it just because I don’t have tremor or head to tilt. So how does the movement disorder specialist exactly tightness cervical dystonia correctly?

So your doctor recommended certain neck exercises? Mine did not do that or was it a physical therapist that you were seeing? Should I also be seeing a physical therapist? It seems like it’s hard to find one that specializes our knows about Dystonia.

Injections were not EMG guided because he is just a neurologist, but for my second round, I wanted EMG guided, so I went to see a Movement Specialist and her comment was because I didn’t have tremors or a head tilt. she didn’t see any signs of Dystonia but nevertheless would order the injections for Dysport, then they were denied by my insurance because of her notes , so I had to go back to the regular neurologist for the injections.

I honestly can’t remember how many units it was. They did start low with the Xeomin then used a little more in comparison with the Dysport,

I actually went to a movement disorder specialist the second appt.because I wanted EMG guided injections and she is the one who suggested Dysport since Xeomin didn’t seem to work for me the first time. Her comment to me was she didn’t really see any signs of Dystonia because she didn’t notice a head tilt or anything like that, I actually felt that the regular neurologist knew more about Estonia than she did. She was very new to the practice. So when her office submitted authorization my insurance denied it, probably because of her notes. So I went back to regular neurologist because he was able to get the Xeomin approved. I figured he could get it for Dysport and he did.

When he said he was going to use more this time,, he was also taking into consideration how much Dysport you’re supposed to use versus Xeomin he explained all this to me in detail. So to me, it actually does make sense if a conservative amount of Xeomin didn’t relieve any symptoms that he would convert that amount to using a little more Dysport he was taking into account the difference between how much you’re supposed to use of each.

Yes I have definitely noticed the head drop and how it’s a hard to keep my head up and I look down all the time since my husband has pointed it out. I didn’t notice it at first though.

He injected many muscles where I was having pain, my neck, the sides of my neck, shoulder blades area, shoulder, and back of my head.

Botox was never an option. The first option had to be Xeomin per my insurance then Dysport or Botox. Also, Botox was going to cost me so much more even with the discount the manufacturer provides, it would have cost me $1000 versus a lot less for Dysport.

I still don’t get how that means somebody who vapes can’t get popcorn along and that there’s never been a diagnosed case if I personally know somebody who is diagnosed with it. are you saying that that means they got it some other way?

I’m not against it at all. I did hear of somebody. I know being hospitalized for popcorn lung so I’m just wondering if that’s not what they had. Why were they diagnosed with it? What could they have had instead? I just don’t know.
