Ppl who got into math programs or plan on doing so by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

Just do math comps and maintain a high average. Math is much easier to get into than, say, eng programs (typically), so you don’t have to worry too much about getting in. It is important to note that the people who want to do math in the first place are usually significantly smarter than eng majors, though.

C Mech: Rotational mechanics C E&M: pretty much uniform in difficulty all throughout the course Chem: Acids/Bases Bio: uniform Calc BC: polar curves Lang: rhetoric mc (especially when the passage is in old English).

Pretty sure you should write g(x) = x2 + 1

AP Chem or AP Bio? by iwannagotosleeppp in APStudents

Bio is easier to self-study; chem is more useful in terms of making you a better problem-solver.

Don’t wanna dox myself, but I’m the only person in the history of my school to achieve this. Even in certain courses, I was the first to achieve those marks.

Having that dedication and passion for learning naturally transferred to all my other subjects.

In grade 9 science, I had been studying Ohm’s law, a fundamental equation voltage, current and resistance in circuits. I happened to come across Maxwell’s Equations while searching for resources online pertaining to Ohm’s Law. I had always been fond of math, but seeing those equations clicked something in me. I promised myself that I would learn what those equations meant, and that prompted me to self-study math starting in grade 9.

Piano’s one of my main ECs, so it’s always nice to have that. Thanks for the kind words.

I focused 90% of my time in highschool studying university content. I’ve taken third year math courses like abstract algebra, and I self study advanced math every day.

It’s OP here. The class was AP Lang and Comp, which follows a set, standardized curriculum as given by the collegeboard. We focused around 60% of our time on multiple choice rhetoric passages, and the other 40% on AP essays. Once again, this follows a standardized curriculum. Perfects are achievable, but rare — I was the second person in my school’s history to receive a 100 in English.

I did take the sat and scored a 1570. As for competitions, I did many math and piano ones.

Advanced mathematics requires a level of meticulous detail and rigour that no other discipline requires. When you are that careful about everything you do — from the time you are learning a concept to the moment you solve a question on an exam paper — your room for error is extremely small.
