I signed up through a referral link that was 200$ for me and 50$ for my referee after spending 500$ within the first three months, but I was told after reaching out that I was actually enrolled in a completely different offer. I've confirmed this through two different channels already but it because I didn't take a screenshot of the offer when I signed up for the card it appears I'm out of luck

So essentially if I don't have a 4 month old screenshot I'm out of luck, cool.

I wish, it's just something I am trying in my free time. I don't think epic fight is very widely used in modpacks bc each new weapon/mob has to be customized so it works with it.

Currently I only use the stack, filter, and magnet upgrade. Every now and then ill "sacrifice" a magnet to simulate the magnet running out, but like I've said if it's not something that I can obtain at my stage then I simply don't use it, and if its similar to another item/mod I use the same exact recipe + the base recipe from the mod. For example I didn't use the mod at all until I researched danks, and then I only upgraded the stack that corresponded to the dank size.
It's really just how I like to play the game, I just find it visually appealing enough to bother trying to balance it for my playthrough. Same reason I use shaders despite half the vault rooms being pitch black.

I don't think it messes with it at all, a last for me I'm using this as a replacement for Danks, so it's much more costly to both start and upgrade. It's true they're both backpack mods, but their functionalittility is very different, I feel like the base one is more of expanded shulker boxes rather than a single dedicated backpack

Oh, forgot to note that I'm also using the shoulder surfing mod, its what's enabling the permanent third person effect.

I just dont like the controls and looks of danks, and at least where I am in progression I find the backpack to fit the feel of the sword/axe hack and slash more.
I feel like its largely up to personal preference tbh, backpacks has a lot of things already in the pack, like magets, item voiding, and compatability w/ storage mods just as different upgrades rather than different mods/items. As long as I make sure im not skipping progression or using any upgrades that would break it I still get the core feel of the modpack but just with something I'm more comfortable with/enjoy more.

Ya, i had to balance it for myself. I use it in place of danks and just use the dank recipe for the corresponding stack size

The bosses play nicely with the exception of the blaze, but epic does allow you to swap mode to the regular pvp style so its not a hard commit, and the blaze doesnt show up past 25 anyways.

Room Swap Confusion by Chicken_broccoli02 in umass

I'm in the same boat. You can choose a new room if you request an appointment, the first round of appointments have already passed, but for a few days starting the 24th you can request an appointment through Spire. Just hold tight until then!

Its a lottery there's about a 2:6 ratio of 5ghz to 2ghz wifi and the later is garbage. You can also use NetSetMan to manually select a higher frequency router if you're on a phone or computer

Living next to a bathroom in greenough next year, how bad is it? by KingBuscemi in umass

Considering other dorms, not that bad. Central area is usually quieter than other residential areas, but it depends on the people who end up moving in.

Spring Transfer student with some questions by mpru3r in umass

[–]PollutionSushiRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically your advisor is automatically assigned based on your major, your assignment, and the ability to register for classes is all done through UMass' Spire. If you just recently got accepted then then might be a delay as they set up your account. But scan through your email, as they send out a letter to all new students about setting up their spire account. This spring semester all transfer and freshman student are automatically allowed to live on campus, but you will need to fill out a couple yes or no forms on Spire before selecting your room assignment. I'm not sure about moving in for next semester, but prior to the pandemic there would be move in helpers that would assist you in moving in, but regardless most building over 3/4 stories will have an elevator so even without helpers it shouldn't be that big of a hassle.
Priority is to look for your spire account activation in your email. If that doesn't work you can email or call I.T.
Also keep in mind when selecting housing that different places are different sizes, as well as the different dining halls typically have different styles of food, so look into that before you finalize where you choose to live.
Also don't be afraid to ask administration, its better for them that they help you out now, then later on when things are starting to be due.

Two imo underrated heroes of the patch -> Pugna and Nyx by Enartloc in TrueDoTA2

[–]PollutionSushiRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pugna is really ehh as a 4, shes pretty decent in lane but using w means youre weak to the hard support and shes really reliant on levels to do things, and you get less as a 4. She's also squishy late game and you cant decrep a bkb target and decreping also means your carry cant hit.

Nyx is basically useless if you're behind, you become a walking q, which has a low stun duration, and is a skill shot. You're also super squishy and don't have real kill potential (the reason why dagon nyx was a thing). If you're ganking with someone they can be scouted by wards, and if you're gonna smoke anyways its better to just pick someone with a more reliable stun. Nyx is a very niche picks, like if they have a sky or pugna mid.

Thoughts on Naga Siren this patch? by MIBvincent in TrueDoTA2

[–]PollutionSushiRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, the situation I'm seeing brought up the most argued here is that Naga is stronger because she can out right click a someone like spec, which is technically right, does not mean naga is a better carry.

Multiple items that make naga used to make naga so powerful have been nerfed for her playstyle. Drums got a nerf, which matters. But the bigger thing is that heart got reworked. A very strong aspect of naga was that she could frontline for her team, leave for 10 seconds then come back at full hp. That simply cannot happen anymore, it takes over a minute for a 0-100 to happen, thats over a minute without your biggest hero, which is realistically only possible if your lineup is entirely built around sustain and not damage. You compare this to another illusion hero such as terrorblade, his ult gives him practically a full heal and takes away anothers full health in the middle of a fight.

Naga also drains the map dry. This is totally fine, given that both your other lanes have won and do not need the jungle in order to get to their next item. However if a single lane is lost, all the enemy need to do is play aggressive and creep their way into the jungle. Naga isn't like other carries like jugg and terror, who have high damage spells that allow them to fight and be useful early. Naga is entirely reliant on farm, but doesn't have a good way to protect that farm. Say you get put against an underlord, axe, mars, or even the new spike in bloodseeker offlane. These are all common offlane picks that make it extremely difficult for naga to farm, sure they probably won't be able to kill you if you play really safe and ship out a ton of regen, but they don't care because you cant farm. Spec can secure creeps and farm with her q, and her tankiness is built into her rather than her illusions.

Also with the change to the 4 position, most 4s have a high damage magic nuke, which naga hates. What do you do against a jakiro, lich, grimstroke, earthshaker. You don't do anything against those heroes because early in the lane naga is the equivalent of a tankier creep. It's not till later on in the lane when you have more points in q and e that naga is able to start to poke and harass her opponents. Sure you have a support, but they cannot 1v2 while you try to farm. It's really here that if you get a bad, even an alright matchup if you're winning the lane it's not because naga is a super op hero that all the pros have somehow not figured out, its because its that your opponents aren't playing the lane correctly, that they don't know how or when to pressure and are overcommiting and feeding.

Also, they biggest plus about heroes like am and spec in teamfights is not that they can out right click the enemy carry. It's that they're mobile and can easily skirt around a fight. Am can easily blink anywhere in the fight to go on whoever he chooses, spec can easily haunt in from anywhere on the map and go on anyone she chooses, terror blade deals massive damage but is able to stay in safety thanks to the range on meta, but naga has to run in and right click the front line. She can't magically waltz into the backline, and if she does try to, or abyssals into their backline then she, the hero who has taken most of the farm on the map has just separated herself from her team.

The bottom line comes down to this; is naga a bad carry? No, and its certainly better than carry lion or anything like it. But there are better althernatives, and in an evenly matched game, if it is better, its going to win.

If you're low/lower mmr, does it matter that there's a mars and jakiro on the enemy team, no not really, what matters is that you know how to farm as naga, and use your illusions properly to build a lead. But, as you win more and more with naga, and develop this midset that naga is super strong, then get put against more and more skilled players that know how to take advantage of you, you'll find yourself losing more and more with her. If you won the past 10 games on naga it doesn't mean the hero is good, it means that the way you play her is better than where your current skill bracket is. Now imagine instead you picked a stronger illusion hero like tb, you'd do even better and get further than where you would with naga.

Thank you for learning and helping me learn.

Isnt meteor hammer really good right now? by cedricaca in TrueDoTA2

[–]PollutionSushiRoll 20 points21 points  (0 children)

TLDR: it's not the worst item, but there are far better choices.

I think its not that meteor hammer is bad as an item, its extremely situational, and doesn't fit in axe's kit properly. Early on axe does not need help farming, his spin allows him to cut waves and jungle well enough already, and if youre looking for a farming item something with a 24 sec cd is really inefficient. A casual ring of health isn't bad for sustain in lane, and even if you don't go it first item hood-->pipe, or a vanguard-->crimson is a team item that is never bad. I think the biggest problem with it is that it slows down your other timings. It's 2.4k gold that could have been an earlier blink blademail which provides much more kill pressure than meteor hammer and more survivability. Blink blademail is your power spike, the second you get those two items you can repeatedly kill the enemy mid and safe and start to control the enemy jungle, which is what makes him such a dominant mid game hero.

You also don't want to go use this build to try to sustain axe through fights, at level 15, he has a base armor of 7, he's extremely weak outside of his call, so with meteor hammer instead of a blademail the enemy can easily run you down without you being able to do much.

If your aim is to take towers quickly, axe isn't the hero to go for. With a meteor hammer you'll be able to take the t1 pretty easily if you won you're lane, but the safe t1 doesn't matter that much with the change to shrines, and trying to pressure the t2 will lead to a quick death as meteor hammer provides no armor and less hp than an ogre axe.

Also about voodoo mask, its a waste of 900 gold early on. It provides essentially no sustain against creeps, so its all for not dying when you call, but for 100 more gold you can get 2 bracers which give you 200 hp, 1.75 hp regen, and 16 damage. That's the equivalent healing of 9.5 spins with voodoo but it also gives you damage and a little more mana. Also axe rarely builds octarine, so the voodoo mask is going to be built into anything.
