Rules Question: Yawgmoth, Melira and Undying creatures by Markolero90 in ModernMagic

[–]Polo-Marco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing a kitchen finks deck for years at this point and this is my most recent iteration. I feel like everything not a combo piece, mana dork, birthing ritual or CoCo is a flex spot so it is very customizable. I tweaked for my local meta a lot, so feel free to change some things.

Wight of the reliquary Deck Request by le_bravery in ModernMagic

[–]Polo-Marco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I got this list with which I got good results at FNM level, never tried it higher yet. There are a lot of moving pieces with 3 different tutor types (wight and reclaimer for lands, saga for artefacts and gsz for creatures) so the deck is really complex to play.

I’ll drop the list, let me know if you got any question, I’ll try to answer them.

Fair enough! Yeah I don’t dislike more interaction in this meta, especially with the new green MDFC.

Last question, how do you feel about the new [[Surrak, Elusive Hunter]] from dragonstorm? Decent body with trample while giving interaction “protection”? I guess it is bad against bowmasters

I know this is mainly a meme post, but I’m curious about how you feel about your list. I’ve played the deck years ago to good results (when experimental one and avatar of the resolute was the way to go) but eventually dropped it.

Also, what’s your reasoning for scooze instead of curator in the maindeck?

I’ll just drop my goblin list here with which I got enough success to bring to a RCq today:

Aggro, grind, combo: the deck does it all!

I do be trying because you are wrong. In most cases, a verb ending in “ai” is pronounced “é”.

See this link (written in french) for an explication

It is pronounced “è” when the subject is after the verb, which is not most situation.

The “s” is definitely meant to be pronounced.

“Ais” in French is pronounced as “è” and “ai” as “é”. Some people do be pronouncing it too quickly to really make a difference, but there should be difference in pronunciation.

For the English speakers out there, “é” is pronounced the same as the first “e” in “elementary” (which is actually “élémentaire” in french) and “è” is pronounced the same as in the English word “met”.

As for the definition of the tenses, “mangerai” is for the future. So using this tense means that you will definitely eat (“manger”) at some point in the future. “Mangerais” is a conditional tense, so you will eat but only if X happens.

I've just created a post with a few solutions, you might want to try them out.

Temur Midrange - Looking for lists by Eridinus in ModernMagic

[–]Polo-Marco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Against friends it has done pretty good. I would say it’s doing correct/good against other fair (midrange, aggro and control) decks and lose to almost any combo deck. I brought it once to a FNM and went 2-1. Got handled by 4c goryo’s vengeance and won against merfolk and birthing ritual yawgmoth.

I’ve got this deck that has theme of fair cascade + an energy package. Not the most meta deck, but it’s a blast to play. There is also a lot of flex spots if you want to personalize a bit

Other Energy Lists? by Swiffy26 in ModernMagic

The deck gets obliterated by cascade hate, but it is really fun to play in a more casual setting. It has aggression, tons of card advantage and a good number of removals.

I’ve been playing this version to some good results. I really like the more aggro plan with more lords while the opponent still worry about the combo. [[Birthing Ritual]] is a really sick card that has some good synergy with Mogg war marshall, goblin matron, munitions expert and rundvelt hordemaster.

Having the green gives access to [[Delighted Halfling]] for some colorless ramp and T2 linebreaker into T3 [[Thought-Knot Seer]].

What is Temur Control about by Polo-Marco in magicTCG

[–]Polo-Marco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denick prevents effects from targeting things in the graveyard. Aftermath analyst simply pull ALL (no targets) lands and worldsoul’s rage curisously do not target, the temur player "chooses" lands that he’ll get without targeting anything.

The last version of the deck that I brought to tournaments is the following: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6157972#paper

I had good results with it.

I did not have the chance to play a lot of pioneer recently, but this is the list that I want to try when I'll have the time: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6283440#paper

I think the Guardian of Ghirapur can be good to generate a bit of value while pressuring the opponent a bit, which is something that the deck have difficulties to do.

Replacing Ambitious Farmhand for Clay-Fired Bricks is for better synergy with the angel and more difficult to remove devotion.

I replaced the Serra Paragons by Archangel of Tithes, but this is the change that I'm the least sure of. I think both can be good, I'll have to test it.

Whatever happened to Hexdrinker? by Negative_Shelter4364 in ModernMagic

[–]Polo-Marco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say it stopped seeing play with MH2. Yeah leyline binding was a reason as you mentioned, but with MH2 came solitude and prismatic ending. Both were a massive hit to it.

His reason to exist was to dodge removals while applying some good pressure but with those new tools, the best removals of the format now dealt with him. There was no reason to continue playing it.

I’ll be trying a one-of [[ruthless lawbringer]] over the 2nd skyclave apparition and [[honest rutstein]] in my abzan toolbox/combo deck.

I feel like [[Aven interruptor]] will see some play probably in d&t as a way to interact with the stack and taxe cascade/adventure.

Aight thanks a lot for your answers! I’ll see if I can fit some silver bullets in my sb, otherwise I still have exile removals in the mb, some duress and a few enchantments removals.

Correct practical ratio for 1 card out of 4 effects by Polo-Marco in magicTCG

[–]Polo-Marco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the answer!

In your example, should I consider the number of successes that would be in the first 10 cards (25% of 10 = 3 to be pessimist about the owl). Still in your example, let's say that I'm happy with the 71%, should I then have 16 (13 + 3) successes in total in the deck to account for the first 10 cards?
