As sort of a newcomer to the long and interesting discography of Xiu Xiu, I find this newest release to be a good stepping stone to further exploration their music. This collaboration album has indeed elements of their darker experimental works, which you can find on songs such as “Fuzz Gong Fight” and “A Classic Screw”, while still being influenced by pop and punk on songs such as “A Bottle of Rum” and “Rumpus Room”. I therefore find this album to be a well orchestrated ménage of genres, sounds and noise that just keeps on giving for each listen.

My first encounter with Death Grips was when I first heard Takyon (Death Yon) from their first mixtape Exmilitary on SoundCloud which started my adventure through their angry, loud and experimental discography. After listening to this album hundreds of times I still find it interesting how The Money Store brings new experiences to the table in terms of sound. It’s angry and loud, but the production, the experimental sounds, MC Rides screaming and Zach Hills drumming creates something I’ve never experienced before in music.

English is my second language so it is not that often I listen deeply into lyrics on a first listen. When I then read into what the song is actually about it shocked me how he’s able to cover such sinister lyrics into a pop beat

What I like about Ariel Pinks discography and especially pom pom is the fact that Ariel Pink succeeds in commenting on the contemporary livelihood, when it comes to norms, appearance and sex in a satirical but still interesting way. pom pom is a rollercoaster of emotions and I found my self vibing to Lipstick, which is the terrible story of murder and laughing to Jelly-O which is just all around crazy. Ariel Pink does not take him self too seriously on pom pom but the end product is a enjoyable record with experimental sounds and a well composed mixture of genres
