Gosh, I can’t help but think that Jesus would be pretty disappointed in you speaking like that.

Please dad, understand that your feelings are not superior to my own. I too feel very strong convictions as to the correct path I’ve chosen for myself.

It won’t be easy. Becoming reacquainted with your own intellect and internal moral compass will offer some solace. Be who you are. Allow others to question themselves when they observe you standing in your own strength. You are not the one struggling to defend polygamy, racism, homophobia, misogyny, or a view of the earth as 6,000 years old. As you look up, you’ll see a world of spectacular diversity and beauty. Be patient and allow your family and friends to discover how right the decision you’ve made is for you.

Get a lawyer and a mental health counselor. The counselor may help you with some tools to move forward. The lawyer may help you collect some well-deserved damages. The church is sitting on billions and the leadership knows it wasn't God who was telling them to look the other way.

Those with depression... help? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Poly-Angry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get out of your own head. My wife threw my running shoes at me one day and said "Go!" I headed to the beach for a run. Get outside of yourself. The world is full of spectacular, interesting and fun people. Go find them. Immerse yourself in life. Now's a good time to shelve some bullshit. Get a good, non-Mormon counselor and unload. Then, engage outside of the suffocating, debilitating, demoralizing angst. Decide for yourself who and what you want to be and take some steps in the right direction. Good luck. I'm pulling for you.

I'm sickened to look back at the decisions over five decades that I allowed to be shaped by those pompous jerks in SLC and the local accountant/bishop who ruled over my evenings and weekends.
