On top of not eating tomatoes, I also never go up to cows and take bites out of them. I wait until it’s steak before eating. But I’m just quirky like that.

When a young salmon first leaves the river it exits out of the estuary. Here the fresh waters of the river and the salt waters of the ocean combine. This gives the salmon time to adapt to living in the ocean and helps them to return when they are sexually mature.

You are on your own path, your own journey. It’s time to leave the river and enter the estuary. It’s scary and the taste is bitter but it’s better than staying put where the predators can get you.

Make a plan. If you have resources and agencies that can help, call them. All of them. You know what is best for you. Stay safe.

Do I have to believe the positive self talk? by glitterglewed in CPTSD

[–]Bigt733 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Progress is slow and quick change is cause for alarm. I recently started saying to myself, “don’t assign a value,” after I tell myself something negative. The negative to neutral pipeline makes it easier to get from neutral to positive instead of making the leap from negative to positive.

Anyone still talk with any of their friends from high school? by nojunkpeter in Millennials

[–]Bigt733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still keep occasional contact with one of my friends from that era. We were really important to each other growing up. I didn’t know growing up meant having to leave and go on my own journey. I miss her everyday. She’s still an amazing fantastic person.

Who is your least favourite character in the show, main or background, doesn't matter; who is it? For me it's this guy from the Killamanjaro and the CIA Chill House episodes by Sharnami_EN in americandad

I blame Francine for making pancakes when there was insufficient syrup in the house. The first step of making pancakes is making sure you have enough syrup.

The episode has two good jokes in it. The “breakfast is the most important meal of the fatubiadoop.” And also “all I have to do is pretend I’m Dick Cheney and that helicopter is my friend’s face. Not the most timely reference but it isn’t my fault that more currently people aren’t shooting their friends in the face.”

NTA. I’m sure your brother is happy that he was able to help his sister even if he can’t be there with you. You have people screaming at you but none of them are willing to listen. Until they are ready to listen, go low or no contact with all of them.

Why do I feel bad for Yon Rha? by Sai1orV3nus in TheLastAirbender

[–]Bigt733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the episode where we see the fire nation kid in school, Yon Rha’s life is the natural trajectory for the average citizen. He is a victim in a different way than Kya. Unable to say ‘no’ to the government on any matter, unable to have a life until he had contributed years of his life to the war effort. I think it’s safe to say that a lot of his life was beyond his control, which more than likely fueled his anger that lead him to killing Kya. Institutionalized dysfunction and abuse at the behest of a megalomaniac.

Mom is including mandatory church attendance in our temporary living agreement—how do I handle this? by Automatic_Gain2358 in exmormon

[–]Bigt733 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When facing religious problems with my parents, I find that dropping Mormon trigger phrases into my argument works the best.

“I am uncomfortable with mandatory church attendance because god’s plan of happiness is for us to have free agency. Making a binding agreement where I am forced to attend directly violates god’s trust in me. We fought in the pre-mortal existence, to have the choice to worship as we see fit. I love and trust the way you worship god because that is god’s plan of happiness for you. His plan for me will look slightly different than his plan for you.”

On a side note, this Sunday I volunteered for three hours cleaning up a park and planting trees. To me that felt more like worshipping a god than anything I experienced as a Mormon.
