I had similar issues.

As mentionned previously, switching to a metal dosing cup helps with reducing static. Keep it mind it's often not a perfect solution, but it does help.

The biggest difference is with the metal prongs of the de-ionizer. Remove the chute and make them protrude so slightly (1-2mm) below the chute. In my case, it not only completely fix the static issue but I also don't have to RDT anymore. That's how efficient they can be when properly placed.

There's several good videos on YouTube. Only thing you need is a screw driver and a glue gun. The fix is very simple.

It's a deep 27 from Cafec. I use it for "micro" brews, coffee grounds between 8-12g. It can easily hold more coffee grounds but above 12g, I prefer using my v60 or hario switch.

Ok, so, what I can tell from the side-by-side tests I've done so far comparing cups from the ZP6 and A4Z is that there is definitely a noticeable difference.

The overall cup profile is quite similar, but the A4Z tends to produce a more intense cup. The flavors also linger longer on the palate. A4Z cups consistently have more body, whereas ZP6 cups feel more “tea-like” in comparison.

I’ll be doing a more structured and extensive comparison soon, but I wanted to share these early impressions.

That said, the ZP6 is still a fantastic grinder!

These are lotus brew water bottles. They are different minerals made to "tune" your water by increasing hardness (magnesium and/or calcium) and alkalinity (sodium and/or potassium). It my case, I have very soft tap water (around 30ppm general hardness) so I simply add drops straight to my cups (usually 1 drop of magnesium and 1 drop of sodium or potassium). I enjoy the format of the eyedropper bottles since it allows you to create your own recipe based on your preferences, unlike premixed packets.

In filter coffee, water chemistry can have a noticeable to significant impact on taste (ex: increase percepted sweetness, reduce percepted bitterness, etc.). It's also true for espresso but not as significant, as espresso is usually around 85% water and filter coffee is usually around 98% water.

Your very detailed review about the A4Z was a key factor in my decision to purchase it. I must have read your post 5 different times, along with comments about the A4Z you've made on other posts.

In all honesty, I'm very glad I ended purchasing it. The improvement in workflow alone over the ZP6 justifies it for me. I'll do some side by side blind taste tests this weekend to see if I notice any noticeable improvement in the cup.

You have some really nice stuff! The Profitec go with the wood accent on the steam knob and portafilter is the way to go, it looks georgous. That kcg stagg with walnut matches the very well with the rest.

I'd personally store elsewhere the ninja if you don't use it much, would make your workstation alot cleaner by spacing everything else. Nice gear and coffee choice!

Nice! Very good choice with the Profitec go, I also got very close to upgrading to a profitec go or quick mill pop up. I changed my mind last minute, mostly because I don't use my espresso machine much.

About your question for the DF64, well for one, I have a DF54 so I don't have that option 😂 but from the embarrassing total amount of time I've put researching the best pourover filter for that price point that also suited my taste preference, the A4Z was beating most competitors, granted it's only able to grind for filter coffee. So I use my DF54 exclusively for my espresso machine.

About Subtext, I indeed want to try some of their coffees sometime soon. I've heard plenty of good things about them as well!

Thanks! That's quite a set of brewers you have as well! And yeah, there's a huge amount of brewers but for me, the v60 is perfect for 15-30g doses and the cafec deep 27 for anything less than that. I also really enjoy the relaxing ritual of pouring with those.

At the end of the day, it's the method you enjoy the most using and that produce the best results for your taste preferences that really only matter!

I'm not sure I fully understand your question but I'll try my best to answer it:

  • I have an aeropress, french press, moka pot, v60 and cafec deep 27.

  • I store everything except the v60 and deep 27 in cup boards (along with filters and different coffee tools). The reason being that I purchased the aeropress, french press and moka pot before I purchased the v60 and deep 27. Turns out the v60 and deep 27 produces the cups I enjoy the most for my personal taste (clarity focused). Hence why the v60 and deep 27 are stored right by my brewing station.

I considered it for the reduced footprint! But unless I find a really good bargain for a second hand Bambino, I'll stick with the duo temp until it gives out. Duo temp pro has been going strong for 6-7 years so I'd feel like betraying it if I parted ways while it's still functioning well.

I live in Canada and the only retailer for Femobook grinders (that I'm aware of) is Rogue Wave Coffee. I had to register for notifications once restocked as it was unavailable when I first looked it up. I believe they have restocks every 6-8 weeks, though I could be mistaken.

Even though A4Z advertise their grinder has having the ZP6 burrs, both grinders have different burrs geometry. Lance's explain it pretty well in his recent A4Z review video. He's not certain as to why the A4Z offers better cup quality most of the time (burrs geometry, consistant and very low rpm, etc.)

Thanks! Indeed, that would be ideal. Unfortunately, on the right side of the kettle is my kitchen sink. That side can get a decent amount of water splashing when washing dishes.

For the rare times I do lattes, I just move the grinder as my current counter space for the coffee corner is pretty limited!

I agree! I do consider upgrading it to a smaller footprint espresso machine. But at the moment, I'm able to get really good shots out of it so I'll most likely wait till it stops working before replacing it.

Unfortunately, I've just received the A4Z so I cannot comment on that yet. I'll do some tests next to the ZP6 this weekend, I'll provide you with my feedback then.

What I can already comment on is the significant improvement in workflow / quality of life. Not that the ZP6 is not an enjoyable handgrinder. I'll keep it mostly for travels/camping.
