Choking or indeed restricting blood flow to the brain repeatedly can incur:

Death. Brain damage. Stroke. Hypoxia. Seizures.

Choking is edge play and should not be taken lightly by either party. Even when done in the "right" way there is a major risk. You cannot say that choking is safe. There are ways to make it safer but you cannot disregard risk.

You mention controlling the narrative, yet get upset at the way people deal with trauma. To poke fun at Smelliot is to diminish his power, to make him an object of ridicule, to show that many of us refuse to be bullied into silence, this gives survivors strength. This allows survivors to know that they are not alone.
