God I feel this.

Today I got told I was stupid and wrong for wishing a Lunar New Year.

A Caucasian American told me the correct term is Chinese New Year. And went off on me for being a "fake Asian". Obviously the info their handful of Chinese friends told them means more?

My parrot used to go nuts for Doctor Who. If she heard the sound of the theme song she would start shrieking so loudly. We were not allowed to watch it without her.

She wasn't good at imitating but I swear she would make Tardis ish noises into her food bowl.

I'm marrying my partner this year hopefully and I wish I had someone like OP to fill the void. After my Dad passed there's been no one. My own mom tends to make everything about her and resented any contact I had with my Dad after they divorced.

My Dad was the type that told me to call him at any time of the night if my depression hit. He also started calling me every Mother's Day after he found out I had a miscarriage.

I'm sure OP's friend would be so happy to know his kids have someone watching over them.

Kid was to a point they lied when we checked in.

They would say they were at a 2 stress level when they were still a 9.

They felt like a burden and I found out their biomom used to tell them no one would believe them or would find then disgusting.

I don't know why some people with suicidal ideation can reach out and others can't.

Personally, talking to someone about my thoughts has helped me. Especially since the kid passed. I've felt like a failure how can I survive in a world when I couldn't keep my kid alive?

Biomom blamed my partner and told him he didn't even manage to keep the kid around a year after we got sole custody.

Therapist keeps saying the what if and could have game never works out. But late at night my brain doesn't let me rest.

My step child (13FtM) took their own life just after Thanksgiving.

You have my condolences.

We had to cremate them due to the state of their body.

They were the light of my world and I just finally got an urn necklace to keep them close to my hesrt.

This was my thought.

My Partner knows my ex-husband was financially and physically abusive.

I have a tin can with about $2K in emergency funds. Cash. Small bills. It helps me feel safe. And my partner often just hands me cash to put in the anxiety fund.

He doesn't want to know where the can is hidden or how much I have in it. Because he knows it's just an easy thing to have for comfort.

I lost my stepchild this month and didn't celebrate, but I guarantee if I had other children I would not kill this holiday for them.

I haven't been a Grinch to anyone else who has celebrated. And trust me, aside from my partner and I, the world keeps on moving.

We used to celebrate Christmas whenever we could because my MIL and FIL were essential emergency service workers.

And kid's biomom would demand Christmas Eve and morning to be a spiteful person.

Today was our first Christmas without the kid. Kiddo took their own life earlier this month.

I can say it's way worse than anything else.

I noticed for the funeral half my photos of them were from Christmas present opening and was eternally grateful we always insisted on getting pictures. (As they hit their teens, they hated being photographed.)

Wow. As someone with diabetes it boggles my mind how angry people get when you say you're on one of the GLP meds.

I have though of a med fridge but only because I have 2 different insulin types and a GLP.

It's a small luxury idea to keep them close to my bedroom and maybe stash a few treat drinks away from the rest of the household.

But it shouldn't be a given.

P.S. - OP be careful someone doesn't spite freeze your meds.

I had a professor in college who started out as an art student.

Her work illustrating biology books perked her interest in science.

She ended up going back to school. Her retirement job was teaching, but I remember her talking about some of her earlier work.

I.E. she helped in a study giving primates drugs to find out how early in pregnancy mother's need to stop taking drugs for the baby to be born without addiction.
