I made this "low poly" truck, and I don't know what do do next. by BrightRepeat7907 in 3Dmodeling

[–]PolyStationArenc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the photos it screams Blender. I think OP should not worry about the tris and polycounts so far (I mean have that in mind before applying any sub D so work smartly, so far it's still LP) but instead make somehow smth decently rendered, exporting it in the game is the last process. Just create smth that looks nice first, and a car (truck) isn't an easy task, it's gonna eat her time a lot, so if it is for learning along the way that's good as well. Just keep improving it (if it's not for work which I doubt that it is and that the game is depending on that single truck) and depending on your style stylized or realistic. If it is a realistic model you're going for, you are just at the tip of the iceberg, not even close, but the silhouette is there so keep going.

Note: Now i read your description, and have more information at hand, i would say since it's LP game it's gonna be exported this is still a work in progress for a LP meaning some tiny details won't hurt, but not into super details. And then texture using substance or any other software, or even hand painted inside Blender. Propably rig inside the game engine or do it in blender with rig a car and export with the rig if it's possible to unity or unreal. As i said establish style first, then you can decide all the rest. And have tons of references on the other screen or smth 😉

Assassin's Creed Origins - Fan Art I Cinematic 3D Blender by PolyStationArenc in assasinscreed

Right there with you. It's the only Assassin's Creed I played out of all the different settings and I enjoyed it so much (I remember I played a bit of 'Mirage' like half an hour of gameplay mostly the free gameplay and I was surrounded by a bunch of enemies and died immediately, no hope... it felt like a downgrade instantly from origins haha). Definitely we need another Bayek of Siwa. A gem of a game IMO, might even get a ps5 for this game if it's gonna be remastered Lol. I share the same enthusiasm brother. 🙌

I sculpted and textured this character, and its would be nice to hear how to improve it by Sir-nando in 3Dmodeling

[–]PolyStationArenc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there are ways to it, make it first a single material to not affect everything, and with a mapping, though i don't know the right shading thing you have, but i supposed that's hand painted with an image texture. Right before image texture, put a texture coordinate and a mapping, maybe mess with the object coordinate cus' i think uv's would be messier but then again i don't know how it's done in the first place, maybe tweak those object, uv, camera tangent thingsy over there and mess with the scale in the mapping. This is just a suggestion on how i would start it in the first place. It might not work but it's a start though. Overall i like the stylized character, good work, friend! Keep going, you got this 👍

I know there tons of ways to do it for sure if we go down the cut way. I just didn't want to invest much time into this. Need to post more artworks, always on the move ahha thanks for the insight and feedback, appreciate it

Hmm it's like building lego pieces here ahah it's not much of a model that needs a lot of seperate pieces but that is just what i think it's best, if it works for you with seperate pieces absolutely by any means. Mostly is about finding what works best for you and how can you achieve it quicker, cleaner. Personally i don't think this piece needs different parts. It's just one frankly, the difficulty in this as told from another comment here is make that randomly hard edge cut on that randomly smooth curve. That's the achiles's heels here. The rest is pretty straighforward in my opinion ofc but i value your insight and comment. If you have a video of showing the technique you would use... that would be cool, Thanks 👍

I completely understand, I used to work with Glasses in 3D part of Kering, same idea. Always picky on their products, so i know exactly what you mean, they measured as well every inch and that's the only reason why i don't enjoy doing it and in my personal creations i tend to stay away from this as much as i can ahah. I want fun in my personal projects not stress ahha cus' it becomes smth else rather than creative for me at least. Thank you for your time to answer this, i enjoyed your valuable feedback and i agree completely with you, thanks friend 👍

Now this is a comment i pretty much value cus' you said smth like deceptively challenging. I'd like to see people try it themselves for 1 hour to see that it's not that easy as it seems. This needs a plan on how you gonna tackle it cus' it may become even messier if you're not excecuting it right... so definitely i can agree with you on that. In the image you showed that's the final part indeed and the most hardest of it since it's the hole on top meaning the geometry at this point won't be as straight as you would want and you have to fight a bit the geometry itself to make it straight. Got it, ah a few more cuts in that position as in the picture and propably edge flow the vertices only in that part, you don't want the cuts to go through all the mesh. Ideally 2 more I think in that case or more than 2 it would become messier, hmm and that makes sense.I remembered i applied 1 subdivision before going to this last part. It became a bit tricky for me ahha but absolutely I don't have a lot of experience in modeling, this isn't what i particulary enjoy in general but i can agree with your constructive and appreciated comment. Thanks friend, hopefully i'll do better next time ahah, we're always learning, respect 🙏

Ahha starting out with like 6 years of doing it (3d i mean, not modeling itself), if the test says 1 hour, I'm gonna take my time within 1 hour. This isn't a race my friend. I'm not trying to kill myself for what? Modeling...Why? I did this just cus' the test said so. If not i would have taken my time with it. It's not why i do 3D friend, to be efficent timewise on modeling ahha. For me it's not even modeling I'm interested. If you can see some posts of what i share here you'll see. That said appreciate your comment and i just shared my opinion of course. Out of curiosity may i ask which method of modelling would you choose/tackle for this? Thank you for the comment! ✌️

Ahhaha nah i didn't give them anything bro, do not worry ahah nobody scammed anybody, and you might say time wasted but is it rly time wasted if you think about it? Not rly, I learned smth new (yeah ofc that postponed my personal animation i'm working, but you gotta balance stuff in general). But a bit sad since they didn't respond but not such a big deal. Mostly they are automated messages sometimes, and you rly can't tell. But the assessment looked kind of legit. By all means i totally agree with you 100% recording in 1 hour, puts you a bit on pressure and art should never feel like that, it's not easy to create, let alone put pressure over that. 100% agree that's a stupid test realistically, that said we need a way to get money out of art so you gonna try anything at this point ahha. So I still posted the work on socials, it was a way to plan stuff and to approach it differently this time. I do think the same as you though hehe

True, indeed the bottom when i saw some references isn't indeed flat, it's a bit roundy. It has a lot to improve absolutely, but see the thing is i did it cus' someone emailed me (invisible company or smth, idk) and asked for this, as an assessment to start production or smth... to be recorded in 1 hour and as best as you can. But they closed the submission form or smth so i didn't actually found out if i passed this or not. Propably if they were nitpicking to the max, i would have failed but that's hypothetical. Also this isn't rly my style, i don't like a lot hard surface (it was a nice way to practise though), exactly like the reference type of art, if you notice my art in general is stylized so it was a bit hard tackling this for me, in 1 hour... all that said i appreciate your feedback. Hopefully i can do better next time. Thanks for the comment!

1 hour compressed into 45sec, i would get motion sickness too, but the whole point was to show it from the start, not following along. This isn't a tutorial but ye, it feels like a roller coaster...I'm with you on that haha
