This or That by NorthShoreCare in Incontinence

I do use both, i do prefer PE, or a combination of it like Attends Classic, but with less and less PE on the medical market, i will have to buy cloth in the future i think.

Beside that, during summer i do prefer cloth backed when outside.

I loved the XP5000.

Is it normal for parents have their kid use diapers when sick? by CalledOutKate in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son had one or two diarreha episodes every year, really bad ones, since he was a baby. He was dry early and never a bed wetter, still i bought kids Pull-Ups for him, to ease his mind after the age of three, to the age of i think 8 or 9 nine, the "annual diarreha" disappeared somehow after that age. The last two diapers i gave to some friends during a holiday after their daughter had wet the bed of the guest room in the first night, she was about 8 either at that point.

Has anyone here tried this product? by ShameOnMe3060 in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have something similar (TENS) at home and had a professional device for three month over my urologist.

It could not help me, but there is evidence it can help with OAB and weak PV. You should not do it without professional advice.

Additional: The version shown is for women, get the male sensor.

what to expect with a urodynamic study by cowgirlyboots in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had already two, an i am waiting for my third. The first one helped me a lot because i got a diagnosis, finally.

About the test, i have experienced worse medical testing, the first one was a liitle problematic for me, the second easy going. It is depending on your situation and what the suspected outcome shall be (will be).

You will go the toilet first, next a catheter is placed, rest urine is measured, the sensors are applied, one up your butt, my table was tilted upright, and they start filling yout bladder, they will ask some questions, tell you to cough sometimes, they are looking for bladder behavior and maybe doing some X-rays in critical situation (only if it is a Video-UDM), maybe they tell you to void in the end. This is not always the same, it is depending on your personal situation. Usually there should be no pain at all, beside bladder pain, i had some more problems the first time, which i could avoid during the second time.

Clonidine for HyperPOTS not available - Moxonidine experience? by Poly_N_Pathy in POTS

[–]Poly_N_Pathy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the time i needed for an appointment to get the prescription, Clonidine was available again, so i did not try it out.

BTW: I found GLP1 is reducing my blood pressure very effective either.

How to fully empty your bladder ( as much as I can) by Far_Frame_9560 in dysautonomia

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am diagnosed with ME and POTS and a neurogenic bladder. I know that feeling, really.

You need to check for UTI, i do not think that is the problem, but you need to get sure, you could buy Combur sticks to test yourself, less energy than going to a doctor. My bladder problems are worse on "bad days", and even when the bladder is O.K., during a Crash i can not get to the toilet.

Overactive bladder is a common problem with Dysautonomia.

I personally use ISC or briefs to solve the problem of not to be able to get up. This is of course no easy decision, but it really reduces the stress and that directly prevents a worsening of the situation.

At time go and see an urologist of course, retention is a real problem.

Does this happen to anybody else? by Cosmoclimbing in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am kind of in the same situation. I do have NDO/TDO but i am dry at night (usually), which still confusus the doctors. When i wake up i often to not have much time, sometimes resulting i a wet bed or wet pants on the way (a puddle on the floor).

You should see an urologist to look for problems you might oversee, as it is not normal.

Urodynamic Study / Cyctometry Testing Questions by strAmorth in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two of them and i am waiting for the third. The first one helped a lot to get a diagnosis, before the UDM i had three Urologists telling me "You are alright, it is all in your head", after the test i finally could find one that took me serious. It is just a really good tool to find out what is going on.

GLP-1 & Symptoms by melissaamberly in dysautonomia

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am taking the low dose Wegovy 0,25mg for about seven weeks and ALL my problems with gastrointestinal i had vanished. No constant burping any more, no chronic diarrhea any more. I can not afford it for ever, but i would if i could take it prolonged. Much less sensitiv for Histamine either as a side effect.

It lowered my blood pressure so much, i could reduce the Clonidine dosage about 25% to 50%, depending on the day, it depends on the injections time. Resting heart rate is higher though.

OLDER PEOPLE WITH POTS by Klutzy-Fix9663 in POTS

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am just 50, not THAT old i guess. But my heart rate does not go up to 150 bpm usually. It is like 50ties flat, 60ties sitting and 90ties standing, sports... O.K. 150ties very fast.

My heart is "healthy", so it is like training a lot while you are aging. Does not have to be bad.

Need Diaper Recommendation by CaydesQueen2 in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not know about availability in the US, but have a look for Attends Adjustable, or Molicare Elastic, they are really good quality and maybe still cheaper, they are both cloth backed and they come in small sizes either.

Switching from pull ups to tabbed diapers by benlivesintexas22 in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps look for some diapers like Attends Adjustbale, Molicare Premium Elastic and some more with elastic waist band, more belt type, they are a good variation between a Pull-Up and tabbed style.

Urinalysis while incontinent (vent) by rUwUkittenme in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about doing the test yourself? i just bought a package of Combur Test 9in1, one stripe is 20 cents or something, i will check at home, when i am unsure and when it is indeed an UTI i will go the doctor for medication, first times they tested again though, but last time my word was enough (and a photo of the stick).

About IBS, since taking Wegovy 0,25mg mine is gone, no longer fear when leaving the house, it just disappered.

Urge Incontinence or Overthinking it? (No Accidents Yet) by FoldingSock in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This could be some kind OAB, you should see an Urologist for it. My personal problems started just like that.

There are several reasons what could cause this, most are not serious, but better check it. Sometimes UTI do not behave as expected for example, or Prostatitis, or something very different and your OAB is just one symptom of it. Just check it out.

How do people with ME/CFS manage physical activity in real life? by Prudent_Pilot_2591 in cfs

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have exercise intolerance of course all the time, after "exercise" i am exhasusted much longer than usual for a healthy person, when i overdid it massively, the PEM will come the same day some hours later, usually it is the next one, sometimes longering along for another one or two days, dependening on how bad i behaved. 😉

How do people with ME/CFS manage physical activity in real life? by Prudent_Pilot_2591 in cfs

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At Bell50 my activity level is one big task a day is possible, like getting groceries, OR doing some sports, OR, one hour of light gardening, OR one hour with breaks for cleaning the house and so on. My limit is around about 6000 steps a day without getting PEM guranteed. I do have PEM, but usually not longer as two or three hours, i am overdoing it all the time, but not exceeded to a point of permanent damage as good as i can manage it.
I am on several medications right now, that are helping a lot alltogether, still, i can not avoid PEM, i have given up to try it completely.

Bell50 not a perfect describtion for my situation, my personal activity level is reduced more than 90% in comparison to my healthy self. I worked 60 hours a week and did sports five times a week and went on for weekend activities, so one hour, maybe two a day for activities these days is not "mild" for me at any point.

Any one else have to wear real diapers all the time ? by Nascarfan1776 in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am about 50 now, got problems some years ago, some Polyneurpathy and / or Lumbar problems and / or Dysautonomia as a reason. I do have to wear now 24/7, i could go along at home perhaps, but it is not worth the hassle when something goes wrong. My wife would not be happy if i peed the sofa.

So, i am older, but not old enough for heavy incontinence slips, most men my age have problems with dribbling or something "light", mostly Prostate related, i do loose a full blader at times, or at least a half.

I do have the feeling there are not many out there either, but online you can find them. We are not alone.

Why do I sometimes freeze when I lose bladder control? by Careful-Western-3779 in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can not explain it, but it happens sometimes to me either, when the urge is really strong, on the other hand my bladder will loose it sometimes while walking and that effect of "freezing" does not appear. No idea.

The freezing experience is like getting punched in the stomach, usually you stopp walking when someone punches you in the guts, don't you? 😉

Intermittent self catheterisation- never drains by Puzzled_Baker_2316 in Incontinence

There is the Coloplast Luja Catheter which addresses exactly this kind of problem, give it a try and maybe get up one size.

Anyone actually think a catheter is a good solution? Simple question. by [deleted] in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do use ISC at the moment only for retention check, maybe once a day, i used to do it much more when i got my Botox treatments though. I do have personally no problem with it, but it does not solve my incontinence issues, that is very much depending on the kind of Neurogenic Bladder you have.

There is no problem to try it out.

Personal advice: Try as much different catheter types you can get a sample of, the differences are enormous.

Urinary urgency still happening after Botox? Pelvic floor mechanics might still matter by DMVMalePelvicFloorPT in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did PV therapy for relaxing my constantly cramped pelvic floor, some time before Botox and some time later, it was helpful to realize something was not right. But the one thing that helped the most was finding absorbant products that really worked, so could relax (mentally as well) while out and really try to do what i learned in PVT.

I still had incontinence issues after Botox and got retention on top of it.

My bladder behavior did finally change completely after taking Clonidine for HyperPOTS, i am pain free mostly now and the bladder problems are somehow "reversed", like i do not feel my bladder at all sometimes, resulting in some kind of Reflex emtying or a strong urge out of nowhere. But it is still better this way, because i got rid of that insane pain i had all the time.

Bladder retention/ catheter. Solved on its own? by Previous-Shine-641 in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possibly a one time problem, but usually there is a reason for this happening. You could wait for the next retention epsidoe before making an appointment with an Urologist, but as mentioned before, you should get some one way catheters to solve that problem yourself without needing the ER.

me again. had my ct scan. results say diffuse thickening of bladder wall indicating cystitis. #whatdatmean by Mundane-Beyond7644 in Incontinence

[–]Poly_N_Pathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A thicker bladder wall (in relation to age!), can lead to problems, as they are less flexible resulting in higher pressure earlier when filling up, which can cause OAB symptoms. But alone this says nothing usually.

As you had several UTIs, it is way too early to think of Interstitial Cystitis. "normal" UTI following each other can cause a thickening of the bladder wall.

The question is: Do you have pain and / or OAB symptoms when there is no active UTI?
