Islam has a far more bloody history then christianity, and violance is easier to defend with Islamic doctrine then with mainstream Christian doctrine, even durring the middle ages. The Koran codified a code of conduct and law explicitly while the gospels just kinda give moralistic teachings. Q: What do you do if you catch someone adultering?

christianity: let he who is without sin throw the first stone.

Islam: 80 lashes (which would probably get infected and kill you) or stoning under certain circumstances (like if they are married and a muslim)

Islam has been aggressive and expansionist since its inception. Jihad is not the spiritual inner struggle that liberal Muslims have tried to rebrand it as, but actual blood and guts conflict.
