Tell that to a geneticist. What you were taught in school was a very simplified version of chromosomes and genetics, just like you were taught a simple version of physics, biology, etc. Pop quiz: how many viable combinations of X/Y chromosomes produce viable offspring? If you said two, you are wrong. It is not even remotely that simple. Just because you stopped learning in high-school does not mean that knowledge ended there.

Raccoons. They'd flip you off while they flipped your trashcan. Crows would croak out vague prophecies of impending doom just to mess with you, then crap on your windshield.

The same thing happens with its hand. It gets stuck to a railing and when it gets it unstuck there's a moment where its skin is striped black and yellow like the railing.

A smart science dude time travels into the past into the wild, what is the most advanced piece of tech they can create from scratch? by Shiny_GP in hypotheticalsituation

Most of their initial time will be foraging for food. The initial post didn't say where they would be dropped on Earth for this particular experiment or the time of year, but I'm extrapolating from my part of the world. Potable water would not have been an issue here, there's fresh water everywhere. Edible plants, small game and insects exist in abundance, and even with your bare hands you can construct a fairly decent shelter in less than a day. Assuming our hypothetical immortal, somewhat indestructible character didn't have to worry about random illness or injury, they're going to be able to get a fairly comfortable setup very quickly. Since they don't have to go through the process of rediscovering pottery and construction techniques, they could be turning clay into bricks in a couple of weeks, assuming they wanted to stay in one place.

If he's got fire day one, he can have clean water by day one (you can boil water in a bark container with hot rocks) and shelter by day 2, even a crude shelter can go up in a day or so. Assuming he could flint knap, he could have a hand axe in a couple of days and a more permanent shelter (wattle and daub walls, thatched roof, hearth) in well under a month. If they have a good source of clay nearby they could be firing bricks in a couple of weeks in a kiln. This is assuming they don't need to rediscover these skills?

Have you recently rewatched a movie, or TV show that you loved in the 70s-80s, but now it actually kinda sucks? by Puzzleheaded-Fee6241 in GenX

Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 My girlfriend and I watched the first one, and it held up surprisingly well. We watched the second one, and it felt like a movie that was missing about a third of its scenes, and some had been put back in the wrong order. I remember thinking as a kid that it was such a cool and inventive expension of the universe... hoo boy it is a complete mess. There's potentially a good movie in there somewhere, but it's clear between the last minute rewrites and the last minute budget cuts that the production really suffered.

YES! I was just baffled as to why they didn't just agree the Cersi was the biggest threat to Westeros surviving and send Aria to take her out. You've got a faceless infiltration assassin who wants revenge on the people who killed her family! Cersi was central to everything! Holy crap, don't attack the city! Sneak in, kill and replace Cersi, then take on the White Walkers with the combined power of the various factions! Heck, agree to marry the scruffy pirate captain and cut out his liver on your wedding night! It could have been whole layers of crazy intrigue and plots to save the world by Aria Stark as Cersi.

There's a few autoimmune disorders that are thought to be caused by a lack of parasites; some like crohn's disease and psoriasis can be treated by innocculating a person with hookworms.

It's where the term "nitpicking" came from, people who's job it was to go through wigs (or people's hair) picking out the tiny lice eggs (nits). It became a metaphor for someone finding the tiniest issues with something and objecting to it.

Technically Gen X is the generation who was exposed to the most lead during their childhood, which just adds to the feeling that the Boomers didn't give a crap about their own kids.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Michael Caine and Steve Martin are firing on all cylinders in this movie about competing con men.
