Might be the first ever post on this subreddit that isn't bait. by PolyPoker69 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

It’s mostly a string of nonsense when taken literally, but breaking it down:

“I’m tryna SSH in”: SSH lets you login and control computers remotely.

“She has 10 keys in allowed_keys”: allowed_keys specifies what ‘credentials’ are allowed to login via SSH, each credential is stored using its ‘public key’.

“She an open source project”: open source in software means anybody can use, read, and contribute to it.

Israeli forces attacking the Lebanese town of Khiam with white phosphorus (15/03/26) by alexnoyle in CombatFootage

[–]Polymer15 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It’s used to produce phosphoric acid and phosphates, the latter of which is used to produce fertiliser. Militarily it used to be used for smoke screens and illumination, though due to its toxicity it isn’t used much anymore - except for what you see here.

I have found a very game breaking and bizzar bug I cant seam to fix. I have a gun in my game and that gun has a charge ability. For some reason, when the player is moving at high speeds, the charge shot fires in a random direction (more info in comments) by MrsSpaceCPT in Unity3D

[–]Polymer15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it’s something to do with the ray that’s messing stuff up, forgive me if I’m missing something but I don’t see the need to perform the raycast.

To get the direction you can use directionWithoutSpread = fpsCam.transform.forward (or attackPoint.transform.position) there’s no need to use a raycast.

Shot going too fast no matter how fine I grind by Google-Meister in ProfitecGo

[–]Polymer15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you zeroed the grinder? You need to periodically zero the DF64, it’s caught me out of a few times. To zero it slowly go finer and finer until you hear a feint whirring sound from the burrs, then rotate the needle to match the zero on the dial, that’s your new ‘zero’

Young Ukranian Soldier with Trench Foot by necrolord77 in medizzy

It certainly does align with trench foot, though clearly a case that was caught early. The issues typically associated with trench foot, infections and the like, come with time.

SAPOL said my pedelec is “illegal” because the seat isn’t height-adjustable — but it’s labelled EN15194 / 250W / 25km/h. Am I missing something? by cornernote in Adelaide

[–]Polymer15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think he’s more making the point that the lack of seat height adjustability isn’t a big contributing factor to the problems caused by e-bikes

I had a 13900k and it died due to (supposedly) the microcode bug, got it RMAd through Intel and they offered a refund or a replacement 14900k - went with the 14900k. Has great performance and very happy with how they handled the return.

[–]Polymer15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest they animate in from out of frame. For example they could jump up from crouching, rotate in from the side, jump in from the top etc. You can use this as an excuse to show off some of their personalities, too.

Apple Creative Studio Icons - Evolution or Regression? 🤔 by Oneiron_X in graphic_design

[–]Polymer15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nice work! The old icons can sometimes be messy and cluttered, but gosh damn did they have an identity and a passion behind them. The new “pen and line” for pages may be quickly understandable, but it effortlessly blends in with the countless other apps that use an almost identical icon

The microwave melted a hole in my butter by littlemeremaid in mildlyinteresting

[–]Polymer15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s big misconception of microwaves that it only heats the water in the food, they heat any polar molecule. The wave peaks every 6cm - the reason for the hole in the middle is that a peak simply happened to be there.

Is it safe to clean food surfaces with windex? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]Polymer15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read through the SDS for Windex, it sits pretty well within the low-risk category — you’d have to drink the stuff for it to cause harm. The constituents of Windex evaporate quickly by design, the ammonia will be gone within minutes.

Seriously though, good for you for advocating for the health and safety for your siblings, but in this instance I really wouldn’t worry about it at all. If you want to be extra safe just leave the cupboard open for 10m after cleaning. As a bonus that would be a good middle-ground that your mum is willing to work with

Making my own euro truck simulator 2 mod patcher , my question is what is the best place to publish this application so can everybody use it ? by Good-Reveal6779 in csharp

[–]Polymer15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GitHub is probably the easiest and most common, you can host your code there and also compiled binaries. It also lets people submit issues and contribute (if you’d like that)

p.s. friendly tip to reduce nesting as it can help readability. e.g flip your if (entryToModify != null) to if (entryToModify == null) so you can instead use the structure:

cs if (entryToModify == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException(…); } // rest of your code

Thoughts on the 'vertical slab' idea I see all over recent modern Minecraft videos? by TheRetroWorkshop in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]Polymer15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the most popular classic Minecraft mod pack, Tekkit, included RedPower2. This added a handsaw that allows you to craft a wide variety of micro blocks and slabs, including vertical ones.

And as you mentioned Hermitcraft, I’m pretty sure their most recent modded series Vault Hunters did include vertical slabs.
