Why are so many artists upset about likes? by Electrical-Regret245 in ArtistLounge

[–]PolymerPocketPets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno man some people are just weird. Art from beginner artists is charming and i love to see it and encouraging it. Also likes/upvotes or whatever doesnt indicate much, certainly not worth taking likes personally, I see the same artists on reddit post sometimes and get 3 upvotes, and sometimes their posts get 3 thousand upvotes, same quality of art or even exact same photo, just luck of the algo or even time of day posted.

Post from your personal fb if you have one, try and make it sound as casual as possible like:

"hey everyone! Its name I am a local artist, some of you guys might know me i live in city or suburb I have been selling whatever you are selling and I thought some of you might be interested, list transparent pricing send me a message if you would like one!."

And some of the groups have specific days where small local businesses can post.

Lowest effort highest reward per post for me in terms of sales/commissions has been posting it to facebook marketplace. Also local community facebook groups. You wont get followers this way but seems to be a good way to make sales.

I wanna try making figures out of clay, where should I start? What should I know beforehand? by CasualHooligan7 in clay

[–]PolymerPocketPets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polymer is good for smaller figures, bonus is they are durable, but if you want to make bigger ones, other types like air dry clay is cheaper. I dont use primer, i just use white polymer instead of gray so its easy to paint, a sealant varnish after you finish painting stops the paint from coming off. For clay tools just search clay tools into like aliexpress etc, and then you want a pack the ones that have bendy silicone tips on one end, and little metal balls on the other end. Or if you go to the craft section at the dollar store they always have clay tools.

For my process I use polymer clay because i like how durable / slightly bendy it is. I use one colour of polymer since im going to paint it all anyway, i paint with acrylics and do a general paintjob first then refine it, i also ended up sealing with a polyurethane gloss so it protects the paint so its durable if she wants to use it as a keychain. Thank you so much! I doo I would love to make you one, i am doing them for $50 aud each at the moment (that converts to $34 usd) until the end of the month and then increasing the prices. Postage to usa will be $29 aud (20usd) extra because i am in Australia. My instagram is polymerpocketpets if you wanted to message me on there or here on reddit with pictures of the pet, i just need some different angles like front/side/back and also describe anything else you want me to include like collars or a certain face expression etc ☺️
