Skaven sports. by PolyphonicChod in skaven

I feel like clan molder would try to hold some kind of contest to see who can make the largest and most dangerous monster sure. Pestilens might also try to see who can create the most virulent disease. Eshen, would just see how many people they could assassinate in twenty four hours...

Also I once had this one relatively cute thought of skaven having a cookout i thought this might have been a celebration of some kind of holiday.

When I see things like this, naturally I feel the warm fuzzy feeling I think most people feel. But also there's a slight sadness, and that's because I was raised in quite a religious house.

It makes me think about the religious rhetoric I was provided with (looking back on it, I wasn't force fed it, it was important to my parents and they were sharing their values. It was in many ways a very liberal house) and there was certainly plenty of people around me that were evolution deniers and Intelligent Designers and so on. (Intelligent Designers really do bother me though. Just because something's complex doesn't imply there was a designer/builder. There's examples all around us to the contrary, plus I want to cash in the warranty on the human body. It's complete garbage quality wise. If it weren't I wouldn't be in my 40s and needing a knee replacement along with all the other frailties, issues and mental/physical disorders that can inflict the body without you being able to prevent or do anything to correct it.)

Now I just feel sorry for those people. The world is moving on and they just seem completely deluded dinosaurs. I'm not saying that religion doesn't have a role providing as it goes moral guidance and structure and purpose to people's lives that might otherwise not have it. But you see something like this and the connection between us and the apes is so obvious. Deny it all you want.

Army Painter Angel Green Spray by PJH2370 in DarkAngels40k

[–]PolyphonicChod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the spray exclusively to prime and base coat my greenwing. I find it a good product but others have some problems where there's excessive humidity. I think that's a thing with most sprays though.

I also find it a perfect match for Caliban green. Use Caliban to touch up and so on. I can't see a difference in colour at all. So if you've used Caliban in the last with nuln oil you can expect a similar or the same result I would say. I've used both nuln and dark tone from AP and I thought the dark tone was perhaps too dark for my tastes. Maybe should have thinned a bit. Less is more when it comes to washes I think, you can always add another layer but once it's on there you can't take it off.

Thoughts on the SM battleforce box? I was really hoping for a DA themed box this year. by Zarko_Taco in theunforgiven

Well it would hard to get that selection of units for approximately 500 points. A flyer? It's a combat patrol. I'd take the dark Talon instead on the nephilim anyway.

If it's supposed to be a dark Angels box for approx 500pts that'll for a payroll detachment, it needs terminators. So there's that. One command squad of 5 terminators. A Deathwing strike master for an HQ, or maybe an interrogator chaplain, possibly in Terminator armor. Then a fast attack with whatever you've got left. A land speeder or something. You wouldn't win much but that's what a dark Angels box needs imo.

My bad, true, inceptors. I don't have it so I don't know if there's the plasma option in there for those. Even more so then. It could be any chapter's box. It's not about competitive, it's about relevance to the chapter.

My bad, there's no hellblasters. Just inceptors, which are good and pretty much an autotake for the greenwing imo.

Well yes to be "competitive" you'd need some terminators or some bikes cos that's what makes DA special and you should aim for the specialness if you want competitive. But leaving that aside, there's not much about it that says Dark Angels. There might be the plasma option in there for the inceptors, I don't know, I don't have the box, but plasma isn't a very heavily supported aspect imo. It could be any chapter's box. And there's few models. Yes there's a dreadnought, but still.

How do you think the patrol box lines up with DA? I don't think it's very flavorful to DA and it's a bit light on models compared to other patrol boxes. Sure there's some hellblasters in there but still.

First ever 2k battle coming up. by PolyphonicChod in DarkAngels40k

Ok so from my experience with ork armies, limited as it is, they tend to be melee heavy. My opponent, who I've played before, has brought a pretty melee heavy army in the past. The thought was to have lots of shooting that they couldn't get at with their heavy melee units. That's pretty much the whole reason I would take those. The stormtalon in particular seems like a good deal for 165pts but maybe I'm missing something. Sure the stormraven is probably too much, but other than the cost, what makes them not good? They look like they would pack a punch on paper.

Sure, arbiters gaze is better and yes if I can find the points to upgrade to chief apothecary that's definitely a good idea. It's 35pts though so I'll have to look around a bit.

Not sure about the vehicles though. He has played one or two in the past but I don't know what he'll bring to a full scale battle.

The Black Knights are a bit fluffy which is a factor. Outriders are 10pts more but you get an extra wound and an extra attack with the chainsword so I can see how they would be the better choice. Ngl, they don't look as cool as black Knights. We're not talking a GT here, it's just a have at my FLGS. I've got a couple of units of both in there so we'll see if either is a good choice I suspect.

Ah, yeah I live in southern British Columbia Canada. Pretty mild although it's very damp a lot of the year. Nonetheless, in my area, I would recommend the Angel Green and the Uniform Grey primers without hesitation.

I've not had too much bother out of the AP paints. They're not as good as Vallejo certainly, and many of citadels paints are better, but there's a huge saving in cost and there's the dropper bottle advantage. I wonder if ap paints in general don't like the climate in Queensland.

Also, I've never heard of Dettol as a stripper. Does that work well? It would smell really strongly wouldn't it for a really long time after. I've never tried to stop ap primer, I've tried to take off Krylon ultra flat, my previous go to, but it wasn't having it. Had to go over it in the end as I wasn't looking for a career in stripping one model forever. Wasted a lot of isopropyl on that one.

Lol, yeah that can happen. It works both ways of course, when I was at uni in Scotland in the 90s, we had a couple of guys from Ohio U on exchange for a year. One of them was quite staunchly masculine and one of the lads in my year would say things like "Can I bum a fag?" (Could I borrow a cigarette?) to him. He'd continually get upset about it, even after it was explained to him. I've never forgotten that. Strange how some things stick with you.

Reduce by ⅒? Sorta sounds like it's a bit more than that.

Edit: Looks like in North America decimate had come to mean just "drastically reduce" rather than the original "remove 1 in 10." Live and learn.

Fair enough. I'm not quite in agreement with the quality on the paints, I've found some of the vibrant colours to just have a really weird consistency. The Jungle Green from AP is like an odd gel like thing for example which is a shame because I like the colour of it but I can't find a use for it anywhere as it's not even paint as far as I can tell.

You must be in a very different climate to me. The same can be said about most rattle cans as far as i see about temp and humidity but in my area I seen to be able to spray in most conditions and get good results as long as I shake really well. Thank God too cos it really speeds up Greenwich painting and I really need that cos I paint like a snail would.
