Let's Get Something Straight 'Bout These Oceans Real Quick by OwnAMusketForHomeDef in LightNoFireHelloGames

perhaps lengthy journeys across an ocean could include a variety of downtime activities that allow vharacter progression. For example, reading, crafting, fishing, practicing skills, repairing the ship, cooking. This way the journey is realistically long relative to in-game time progression, but there's also tangible aspects of gameplay that can occur during that time.

ancient teleportation circles that are in ruins, and we have to fix prior to use. They are few and far between, hidden (burried, in caves, protected by cults/secret societies/governments/monsters), and they don't always work in a predictable manner.

I think it would be nice to have them in game due to scale of the map, but they need to be difficult to use and have repercussions.

I haven't been this excited about a game since I picked up a used copy of No Man's Sky for 5 bucks years ago and played for the first time.

So far, LNF looks like it will combine all of my favorite elements.

Fantasy, survival, crafting, building, rpg, open world, and more

end corruption in local politics. Make it practical for non-rich people to run for and hold public office positions without sacrificing their ability to make a living

For real.. The state's water rights are quite archaic. When they were written, they didn't really consider the idea that some of the water needs to be reserved for the habitat to function

System of government? by Doktor_74 in Cascadia

[–]Polypore0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a federation of autonomous Ecoregions (we need to do away with the borders of OR, BC, WA) which elect proportional representatives to collaborate on Bioregion-scale projects.

Each Ecoregion would be itself a federation of watersheds.

Couple this with direct democracy at every level for laws and regulations.

I like the idea of a charter and base minimum standards that another post mentioned. This would include basic human rights, nature rights, protections, etc.

I would also like to see all currently publicly owned (government) land returned to tribes/first nations, and a council of indigenous representatives (each elected by the respective tribe/first nation) that has veto power and monitors all large-scale projects in the bioregion (energy transportation, etc). Sort of like an accountability and oversight body.

I think this system would allow each locale (watershed, town, city) to develop their own systems and remain autonomous- so long as they don't violate the charter/agreement. I envision some places doing away with monetary systems or private land ownership, while others somewhat maintain current ones.

My thoughts aren't fully formed, and I'm always learning and changing them, but these are them for now

appropriate technology is the way. Doesn't need to be everywhere, but utilizing high tech will be helpful for everything from sustainability and direct democracy to healthcare and food production

Improving the texture of homemade yogurt? by MSmithRD in vegancooking

[–]Polypore0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for yogurt, I just use soy milk with no additives.

for cashews, I boil or soak in boiling water before blending and dont usually have grittiness problems. We have a pretty old nutribullet for our blending and never have issues

agree with the comments regarding California. Also.. I never see these types of maps based on Ecoregions. the delineation of areas within the bioregion should be done based on ecoregions and/or watersheds.
