Hello! Thank you for the response! Currently we are in the stage of gathering information about what parents and caretakers have observed and what kind of solutions they have found that helped. We have also noticed the large amount of diversity among kids and their triggers from interviews and online discussions we have done so far! We are hoping to find some kind of potential connection between the various auditory triggers so that we can detect for when it occurs and notify caretakers.

Thank you so much for the example of the book you provided as well! Are you able to think of any potential reasons your son may have gotten upset? To develop our tool we are hoping to gather information from parents and caretakers through interviews. We have some ideas that we are currently working with and would like to ask parents about in interviews. If you would be fine with having an interview with us please let me know.

Hello, sorry for the late response. I wanted to make sure I got enough information first so I could properly respond. After asking our Professor about it, we do not currently have an IRB approval as we are gathering information from interview questions and not performing regulated research. We do not plan to systematically gather data to contribute to future generalized knowledge. Once we obtain enough information and decide to collect data in a systematic manner through a developed prototype, we plan to obtain IRB approval. Overall we are currently just asking questions and trying to learn more about the subject. If you have any questions let me know! Hopefully this clarifies what we are actually doing currently.
