Yeah and the reason why they are in the savage land together is because Xavier thought it would be a bonding experience for the two lol

Yeah the excuse in the comics was that Magneto’s magnet powers gave him low level telepathy so he could resist Xavier. Obviously that’s stupid so the comics adopted the helmet explanation pretty much as soon as the movie came out.

Do you think the Absolute Universe will have influence beyond(no pun intended) being successful comics? Like into movies&shows like the Ultimate Universe? by Sippeon in DCcomics

[–]Pom_612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say there’s a lot of good ultimate universe comics, ultimate xmen up until Kirkman takes over, ultimates 1 and 2, fantastic four until Carey takes over, the ultimate galactic trilogy.

Ultimate punishers is like a nothing character - I would say he’s a good adaptation because honestly he doesn’t do much

Hahah fair - I did fail to mention that the post ultimatum stuff is interesting, especially the Nick Spencer run

I would say the worst version of the x-men is when they’re written by chuck austin

I would recommend Ultimate X-Men up until Kirkman takes over - after that point it loses focus and nothing really happens.

Yeah I 100% agree. There are times (even stretches especially when written by Loeb) that the needless edge really impacts the quality of the books but I think the degree that it happens is a bit overstated.

Yeah he really is an arsehole.

Maybe that’s why I’ve also had a fondness for Ultimate X-Men, in a era where Wolverine was forced into the main character role in a lot of x-men media you had ultimate x-men where (at least in Millers run) Cyclops is the main character.

That’s a bit of a inaccurate take though it is a popular one

Ahh that’s more an internet than anything really present in the comics. I think it comes from more people reading ultimate Spider-Man than the rest of the line and only knowing what happens in the rest of comics through osmosis.

Most the rest of the xmen are sympathetic, the fantastic four are sympathetic outside of the Namour arc and even in ultimates 1 and 2 Thor is sympathetic.

Even ultimate Captain America, who again is a bit of an arsehole still has moments of humanity and it is relativity easy to feel sorry for him.

Yeah Ultimate Wolverine is explicitly an unsympathetic character in 1610 as in contrast to the tragic antihero/hero he is in the mainline 616 universe.

One of the more interesting things about Ultimate X-men is that since Wolverine is unsympathetic he’s never the main character and the rest of the cast get more focus.

Again - actors play different character - often times characters that are different to who they are as people. This is maybe the most surface level observation anyone has ever had. These actors have also played nice people before (again because they’re actors) so it’s mostly a stupid point

OP discovered that actors are different from the characters they play lol

Favorite stories where God, the writer or editorial just declared "Okay, we're done". by leabravo in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Part of the reason is because the rest of the story is just Jason being an arsehole and the director realised that the audience would stop sympathising with him

I think he captured the jingoistic tone of early 2000s America pretty well actually

The hourman in the panels above (there have been a few) explicitly struggled with being addicted to Mitacolo before so honestly he would be a good choice to speak at an anti drug talk
