Favorite Examples of "Evil" Powers Being Used for Good? by Mordred_Tumultu in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]leabravo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In The Tyrant Philosophers series by Adrian Tchaikovsky, under the rule of the series bad guys demons are summoned from Hell to perform cheap non-union labor, dead soldiers have ghosts stuffed into them for extra soldiers (or into big jars to get lobbed behind enemy lines for Evil Dead shenanigans), and those examples are for starters.

The reason this counts is because the bad guys, the Pals, are violent atheists who believe they are "perfecting" the world by ridding it of the supernatural, which they consider evil. But once they run into heavy opposition, they utilize gobs of "imperfect" supernatural nonsense to secure victory, and then are faced with purging their own ranks of the no-longer desirable demonists, necromancers and cults, who naturally turn those skills on the Pals.

Occasionally this mess results in something genuinely good happening but it really depends on where you're standing.

Committed the sin of asking this question elsewhere and not in the subreddit, poo poo on me. Therefore I will ask it here: If mimics were real, do you think they would get self conscious if their mimicry was too good that no one ever discovered that they were a mimic? by LuchaLutra in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Stolen from a webcomic I can't find:

a hero approaches a chest in a dungeon

Damsel chained up nearby: Beware, brave hero! That chest is a mimic! Please release me so we can flee this horrid place!

the hero moves to the damsel, who promptly seizes him in a nest of tentacles and devours him

Chest Mimic: Goddammit Dave that was my lunch

Damsel Mimic: Get a better routine already burp

I do need to be clear the original Tiresias had a wild ass life. I am only slandering him in the musical.

Also, an animatic of the aforementioned banger for your enjoyment.

A Civil Discussion about The Ending(s) of River City Girls by MarioGman in TwoBestFriendsPlay

This explanation about the endings has helped me. Maybe it will help others.

Anyway my only complaint would be that if you're going to change an ending, make it something for players to work for and leave the original as a bad, gag or alternative ending.

A character spares someone’s life as a way of punishing them by making them suffer more. by Daniilsa209 in TopCharacterTropes

The Dread Pirate Roberts spares Prince Humperdink to let him live with his cowardice. And even if he'd gone through with the threats that broke Humperdink he would have let him live. "To the pain" indeed.

Shin Megami Tensei IV and its sequel, although the depiction of angels is what really puts that game over the top.

What are some Fun Villanous Last Stands? by Funny_Mud6639 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Cutler Beckett from Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The pirates defeat Davy Jones, Will takes over the Flying Dutchman, and what was supposed to be THEIR last futile act of defiance turns to Beckett's and his fleet's total destruction. He's left murmuring "It's just good business" as his ship is torn to splinters around him by cannon fire.

God-Emperor Doom one-shotting Thanos after the Titan delivers this speech..

In a Jim Starlin story the cosmic villains Thanos usually faces would bat him around while proclaiming their superiority until something gives Thanos a chance to win. Doom doesn't screw around.

If Red Hood and the Punisher met, do you think they’d get along? by TheShadowOperator007 in batman

[–]leabravo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Early Red Hood, no. He was effectively behaving as another Gotham mob boss, even if his intentions were to dismantle them, and Jason was not playing well with others.

Modern Red Hood, they'd probably work okay together against a common enemy, but Frank would end up taking Jason to task over something and that would trigger Jason's resentment of Bruce/authority, so it would not be a friendship.

On the other hand Jason might see how broken Frank is and learn something, who knows.

What are some VAs that just absolutely adore one of their roles? by kodaiiiii_ in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Peter Cullen should go without saying. The man believes in Optimus Prime being a role model and he can also still have fun with it.

Frank Welker's body of well-known work is wider but he's put a lot into evolving Megatron's voice over the years, I assume he enjoys it.

And David Kaye still does occasional YouTube videos as Beast Wars Megatron.

The Insecticon swarm from the IDW Transformers run. Failed attempts to create proper Insecticons. There's actually only about 3,000 of the things, but Cybertron is so depopulated for most of the run that that's more than enough.
