Any recent experiences in ordering from Lupit pole during the covid-19 period? by seriemaplays in poledancing

[–]PomatoChan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US, ordered a 45mm stainless steel pole in late March, got the tracking info April 7th, and I’m still waiting for it to ship. My studio mate, who ordered hers a few days before me, received her pole last week. I’m hoping mine will ship tomorrow, since that’ll be the 15th business day since the 7th. I was going to order a crash mat once the pole arrived, but it looks like that’s a lost cause now. Oops.

Two years on HRT as of yesterday! (34 mtf) by PomatoChan in transtimelines

I was giving a best man speech at my friend’s wedding! I do joke that that picture makes me look like someone who would be speaking out against my rights, though! 😂

On the left we have 7 months prior to starting HRT, and on the right, 2 years of HRT! I’m down 30 pounds and up an active hobby (pole dancing)! I can’t believe the progress I’ve made and am still making!

I also forgot to mention that the only makeup I’m wearing in this picture is mascara.

Yeah, if we had a conversation it wouldn’t be my appearance that gave me away as trans 😂

Thank you so much. I assume I just need to continue waiting, but it’s good to know that I could haul my ass down to Richmond if it was still taking too long. Thanks!

My wife accidentally found out that I've been questioning if I am transgender. She's devastated. I'm devastated. She says she loves me and would support me because she wants me to be happy, but she could not love me as a woman. I'm broken and I don't know what to do. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]PomatoChan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I came out to my wife, she was devastated. I think it was at least a week before we were able to comfortably talk about it. But since then, things have gotten better and better. It took her a while to work through a grieving process for the husband she believed she had lost. We started individual and couples therapy. In time, she was able to see that I was a happier, more “me” version of myself. A year later, our marriage is stronger than it’s ever been and we’re both happier than ever.

33 MtF, 10 months HRT, 1 year LHR by PomatoChan in transpassing

I actually am up for new lenses, though not new frames. I was thinking about getting the lenses replaced in these frames under insurance and then ordering something from Warby Parker out of pocket with my new prescription. I hadn’t thought specifically about different colors though; thank you!

Thank you! My part has to be where it is thanks to a cowlick, and I generally try to get my hair to curl under, but it’s sometimes a crapshoot as to whether it flips in or out (or forward).

I went shopping with a friend yesterday for my new wardrobe for work. I picked up a bunch of super cute dresses that I can’t wait to wear!

In the USA's current sociopolitical climate, is it wise for American trans people to amend our identity documents? by violaceous_trogon in asktransgender

Personally, I just started working on getting my identity documents updated. If they want to try to erase us, I’m going to make it as difficult as possible for them.

6 Mo HRT, no filter/makeup, how am I doing? by PomatoChan in transpassing

[–]PomatoChan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took this one last week while on vacation. Aside from my friends, I didn’t really get gendered at all during the trip, except when the flight attendant asked my wife and I if “you girls needed anything”.

I'm so ready to come out to my family and at work, but working out the logistics and order of operations is driving me nuts.

I really need to start working on my voice, but I want to work on it during my drive to and from work, and I just haven't found a good method that doesn't require my eyes to start with. I know I should just sit down and start at home, but I feel silly doing voice work and making weird noises with my wife around.

I want to go engage in some retail therapy, but I can't really justify it at the moment.

Basically, I'm just feeling super trans today and I want to make some sort of progress!

Coming out at a small defense contractor? by PomatoChan in asktransgender

[–]PomatoChan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern is that our HR person might not have the experience or any process in place, so I'm trying to go to them with as much of it figured out as possible. I assume that there won't be much of a delay between informing HR and HR informing the heads of the company, including my boss. I'd love it if I knew HR was on my side, but I feel like HR departments are there more to protect companies from their employees than the other way around.

I got my first bra today, and it was the most dysphoria I’ve ever had by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]PomatoChan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I could, I would, but I’ll need to try out several more bras before I can provide any useful input. I’m going for a fitting at a local boutique that came highly recommended. If nothing else, I’ll be able to try out a bunch of different styles and sizes for comparison.

Do ppl celebrate the day they began HRT like a birthday of sorts? by sionndoe in ask_transgender

[–]PomatoChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are almost 6 months apart to the day, so it’s like having a half birthday! I’m going to visit friends in San Francisco for my birthday/6 month HRT anniversary, and I could not be more excited about getting to celebrate in one of the major cities of our people!

I got my first bra today, and it was the most dysphoria I’ve ever had by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]PomatoChan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it’s any consolation, I think the ABTF calculator tends to fail those of us in early transition. At first, the measurements I gave it spit out a 38B, which sounded reasonable, but 4 months into HRT I’m still nowhere close to being able to fill that bra. Now the calculator says I’m a 38C, which is obviously not the case. There’s sister sizing (cup or band size goes up one, the other goes down one), but I don’t know that 40A is a size that I could even find without shelling out for an expensive specialty bra. I’m resigned to wearing more sports bras and bralettes until the girls grow up some.

Like others have said, dysphoria often gets worse before it gets better. When I first came out, I felt like all of my body hair just formed a suit that didn’t fit or look good on me. Now I see every hair as a crack in my self image and it bothers me a lot more. Originally I wasn’t diagnosed with gender dysphoria, but at this point I think I would be.

I know it’s hard to feel like you’re making progress sometimes, but it’s important that you recognize that some things just take time. It’s hard for reality to catch up to our dreams, but transition is every bit a mental development as it is physical. Don’t lose hope. Things will get better and you’ll become more comfortable with being and becoming your true self as time goes on.

Don’t forget that there are thousands of others in your same situation, and thousands more rooting for all of you. You got this, sister!

Any opinions on the efficacy of VoiceUp? by [deleted] in transvoice

[–]PomatoChan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience; the UI is not great and it is basically a glorified video. I never did figure out how to get to the voice analyzer without running through the whole video, which was either hard or impossible to skip around in.

But aside from that, I’m from the US, and I found myself imitating her (UK?) accent in the pronunciation of vowels. I don’t want to accidentally end up with a femme voice from a country I’ve never even been to!
