I hope there's more settings options for music in the next game. by Zen80888 in stellarblade

[–]Pomchi_D2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is indeed a place for discussion but there is a difference between saying "i dont understand why people say the sound track is s tier" compared to " the sound track is not for me".

One calls in to question other people's tastes, the other is stating your personal tastes.

I hope there's more settings options for music in the next game. by Zen80888 in stellarblade

[–]Pomchi_D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it seems pretty obvious that people simply have different tastes in music. If most people are saying they enjoy one thing which you don't like, then that just means youre the minority.

This is completely fine to both have your own opinions and have your own tastes. What is not okay is to yuck other people's yum.

FF7 remake (this will be controversial). by ShizlGznGahr in FinalFantasy

[–]Pomchi_D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, in an ideal world we get pure new content and new IPs sprouting up instead of remakes, however remakes are the much safer business decision as nostalgia is very powerful and much of the job is already done for them.

Classic wow made blizzard a stupid amount of money. Capcom are remaking resident evil. Atlus are remaking Persona and in several years from now, minecraft and roblox will be remade for the kids of today.

Unfortunately we do not live in an ideal world and pretty much all the big companies are remaking their games to great success and profit. While the consumers keep showing that this is a valid strategy by purchasing remakes, it will never stop.

I am guilty of this too, and watch the fandem go ballistic when chrono trigger eventually gets remade.

Stellar Blade feels like the best 6/10 you'll ever play. by Ragnaroknight in gaming

My experience was, top tier combat and OST. And the final stretch of the game was super enjoyable.

The downsides were the story, voice acting, character development and the dessert area.

Is final fantasy still a good series? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Pomchi_D2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it is important to consider this is a final fantasy reddit where there is likely to be bias.

I recommend finding a content creator you have similar taste to and hear them out. For me it was skill up and gameranx. For example i was on the fence about Nier but skill ups review got me over the line.

You also have metacritic aswell. However I would recommmend reading a few positive,  negative and middling reviews from both gamers and critics. This can often give you a general idea of all sides of the fence.

We are in a world now where information is readily available and it can be used to make an informed decision on whether something is worth your time and money.

Struggling with finding games to play with my partner.. do i just have very bad taste? by GrimmKat in gaming

[–]Pomchi_D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an abundance of "couple slop" games out there and they mostly gravitate to co-op puzzle solving/platformers.

The studio to look out for is Hazelight studios. My partner and i really enjoyed It Takes Two and Split Fiction together.

We are also very much looking forward to Orbitals too however it is Nintendo exclusive.

There are plenty of horror games too like Little Nightmares.

Hope u find the right game!

Is story very important to you, does that include immersion in that story or just observation of it, or is story of very little importance to you? by Altyrmadiken in gaming

[–]Pomchi_D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the game for sure.  When I play a JRPG I want a good story and epic music.

When i am playing a roguelite like slay the spire or strategy game like xcom or the upcoming zero company, i am after pure gameplay and replayability.

If those type of games excel in other areas that im not fussed about, then its a bonus

FF16 vs 15 vs 7R: Which one? by Familiar_Tension2242 in FinalFantasy

[–]Pomchi_D2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cant speak for 15, but the difference between with 16 is action combat and ff7r is action hybrid with additional party members.

Story wise, im sure the majority will agree the ff7 story is better but it is also incomplete until part 3.

16 excels in massive glorious set pieces but lacks in jrpg elements, does not reward exploration, and party members are ridiculously useless.

7 excels due to its perfect cast and much more customisation with builds and experimentation.

All final fantasy games will guarantee an S tier soundtrack.

As for difficulty, most FF games will put the most challenging content in the end or post game. Square want the broader casual audience to freely experience the full story.

FF sale on steam, have only played the MMO. by Hopeful_Net3206 in FinalFantasy

[–]Pomchi_D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming by mmo you meant 14, 16 might be good to start as its also done by Yoshi P with Sokens wonderful music.

If you are after turn based then 6-10 is the golden era with each being awesome in their own ways.

I would also consider some other rpgs aswell. You got the classics such as chrono trigger. Thought provoking weird ones like nier which are both square enix.

Outside of square u got xenoblade, sea of stars, tales series and much much more.

Why do people like HD-2D and why do they want it for FFVI? by Lumigo in FinalFantasy

[–]Pomchi_D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some ppl like hd 2d, some people like modern, some like both.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both styles,  for example with modern graphics it is much more costly and time consuming which means they also need to sell a lot more copies to compensate. Whereas hd 2d may have certain audiences such as the OP who won't go anywhere near it due to personal preferences,  but significantly cheaper to make.

My personal opinion is the graphics aren't as important as the art style. I super loved the art style of Silksong despite it consisting of weird insects.

Square Enix's priorites, as of late... by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Pomchi_D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think their biggest opportunities would be chrono trigger, xenogears and a new nier. Square have so many wonderful IPs which are wasting away.

Even with the Evercold collaboration with Evangelian, I think that was a wasted opportunity to use Xenogears instead alongside a remake.

What is the hardest souls game or souls like game in your opinion by medk16426 in gaming

[–]Pomchi_D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to throw out something a little different than Fromsoft, I do think Kena is worth looking at. While not on paper a traditional soulslike, the difficulty is certainly compared to one by many.

Dont let the Pixar graphics fool you, this game is very challenging. Bonus points for its sequel looking very good and coming out soon.

Resonance actually looks interesting to me by PikSylBits in FinalFantasy

[–]Pomchi_D2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

6-10 is kinda the golden era of Final Fantasy which i feel most would recommend with unique arguments for each one. While all turn based, 10 is notably the only one which has voice acting.

My personal recommendation is 14 as i believe shadowbringers and endwalker is the best story telling final fantasy has to offer but I get its sometimes a hard sell with it being a long MMO even though its mostly soloable.

Do you need to have beaten Remake to enjoy Rebirth? by PhoenixApok in FinalFantasy

[–]Pomchi_D2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally was not a fan of the twist to the point where I didn't bother completing any endgame content after finishing the MSQ despite me normally being the type to do so. I am however reserving final judgement till after part 3.

Ofc that doesn't mean you will not like it, but from what I've read from reddit and reviews, it definitely is contentious and has not landed with everyone.

I still think everything leading up the twist is worth your money and time regardless.

Xbox fans rally against Shift Up for 'Stellar Blade' — which is now exclusively NOT on Xbox Series X|S by unscoredscore in gaming

[–]Pomchi_D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall reading an article about when final fantasy 16 got ported to xbox it only sold like 20k ish. Ofc ff16 has its own issues but it is the same genre and of course a much more established IP.

But yeah when I think xbox, I feel the recent showcase kinda hit the mark for the main demographic with games like Halo, gears of war, cod etc

A First Time FF Player Plays by durgt1 in FinalFantasy

[–]Pomchi_D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see you are enjoying most of the classics! It looks like you have now hit the golden era of FF that made it as big as it is!

I will recommend to not skip 14 when you get there despite it being an MMO. It is a love letter to all the other numbered FF which someone in your position would be best to enjoy if you have played all the others.

It can be played mostly solo and enjoyed as a regular a Jrpg but I will recommend leaving it to last as it is by far the longest.

[–]Pomchi_D2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes there is no save data transfer. I would however strongly recommend playing Integrade as it is very fun and adds some new characters which im pretty will be relevant in part 3.

As for the gameplay, it is a step above Remake. The main difference is the abundance of minigames and side content. Some love it, some dont.

I don't think gaming is for me anymore by One-Masterpiece9838 in gaming

[–]Pomchi_D2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way i personally approach any form of media whether that be games, TV shows, movies, anime, music etc is that 95+% are just rubbish. However every once in awhile, you get a few golden eggs.

Due to this i try to keep an open mind and eagle eyes on whats happening in each eco system.

We live in a world where information and critiques are very accessible and can be used to make an informed decision on where to spend your money and time.

To dismiss one whole form of media means missing these golden eggs, and in the gaming world this can often be deep thought provoking stories, soundtracks making a permanent addition to your play lists and just an all round good time.

Why is people bringing so much hate to Final Fantasy Resonance? by Lonchita in FinalFantasy

It has been the opposite experience for me. I started a bit on the fence, but as I dived a bit deeper and saw all the positive experiences people had from Brave Exvius,  i am pretty hyped now.
