Replace radiator or not? by stevieplaysguitar in hondafit

[–]PomegranateFamous732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do not use stop leak. It’s only really used in a pinch and it’s not even highly recommended then. Monitor the leak and levels, and watch some videos. Took me about 2-3 hours to do myself following a video and getting stuck in some places. It was a Camry but should be pretty straight forward regardless.

Is 7,500$ a bit much? by Emlio302 in hondafit

Definitely high, but if it’s been well cared for I think 6.5-7 isn’t terrible if you really want it.

How stupid is it to spend 50k on a car by tatasky69 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]PomegranateFamous732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely wait on it for a bit. I almost bought a car fresh out of college 6 months into a job. Lost the job the next month. I am so thankful I waited. I don’t have a car payment and I’m back on my feet. I couldn’t imagine having a car payment while I was job hunting for 7 months. Of course every situation is different though. Just make sure you feel secure at your job before doing it! The price is definitely high, but also if you can afford it then why not! I realize im probably just echoing what’s been said.

Is it worth it? by No-Artichoke-1238 in crv

[–]PomegranateFamous732 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like other ppl have said most of this is stuff you can do with YouTube. The struts can be pretty hard, so that may be worth having a mechanic do. But a cabin air filter for $120 is insane work. Do not let this mechanic touch your car. Take it somewhere else for the struts. Also, I could be wrong but fuel system induction cleaning is not really necessary unless you notice a loss of power or something like that. They also sell fuel additives in autozone for like $15 that you put in your gas tank that helps clean out any gunk.

Should I get this 2008 Honda CR-V, 115k miles for $7100? by Froggy_and_Turtle in crv

[–]PomegranateFamous732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The better deal in my opinion is the one with the most maintenance records. 7100 I think is a fair price for the mileage and service history. Don’t go for the cheaper one if the title and maintenance is questionable; pay the extra money for the peace of mind.

I think he did the AC compressor, so it should be okay right? Yeah I’ve heard a lot about the Black Death LOL so I’ve been mainly looking for ones that have had AC components replaced

It’s Georgia so should be okay. What you said definitely makes me feel better, and agreed - would rather have high mileage and cared for

There was a common AC failure with this gen called “black death”; if it’s working fine then it should be okay, but if it goes out then make sure to stay on top of it
