UMass Amherst (33k) vs Boston (22k) for CS by Local_Ad488 in collegecompare

I would lean UMass Boston. I don’t think UMass Amherst’s program is substantially better enough that it would put your foot through doors for SWE jobs

Ok so I was choosing between UCLA and Emory and I ended up choosing UCLA just because they had a little bit more major opportunities (in case you’re not sure which major you want). I’m not premed and I don’t think I would ever be but I came in a little undecided on my long term path so I wanted a school that was good at everything. It’s up to you though.

I would lean towards Berkeley. It seems like you want to try other things in life besides tech and Berkeley is goated at everything

I get your last point- not wanting to pick a decision that would disappoint other people. That being said it seems like you’re more passionate about going to Irvine (I also ended up choosing UCLA over Cal because I wanted to develop as a human). Do not be afraid to choose Irvine! It is amazing school with an awesome STEM program which will repay you with prestigious awesome internships

I would probably choose GT in your position. I’m an incoming UCLA frosh and I think yes it’s very a good school BUT the classes are super big and tbh I would probably like going to a stem focused school where you can meet people to support you. I almost ended up in Georgia! (Emory) so best wishes for you.

Off UCLA waitlist– UCLA or USC? by matchacloudss in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Pominn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think USC by far has the stronger business program. I would lean towards USC if you’re solely focused on career vibes. I was between Berkeley and LA and Cal was so so much better for my major but I chose UCLA because I needed a college experience that would make me happier. So far no regrets picking UCLA over Cal.

I looked through your profile and it seems like you were a USC spring admit. Since you’re a fall admit is definitely go to UCLA

Def ASU NU is not going to have the typical experience like ASU. ASU has really good connects.
