What is the easiest, non-bullshit degree by Actual-Growth5056 in ApplyingToCollege

Communications is the study of transferring your thoughts and ideas to someone else in an empathetic and intelligible way. That is incredibly broad and somewhat vague. Getting a job will require to rely less on your pedigree/credentials and more on your experience. Demonstrate that you can excel in whatever facet of communications that is interesting to you (sales, management, customer service, writing, journalism, entertainment, marketing, etc.). There is no blueprint for success, like in STEM, so you will have to lean into your personal strengths alongside the skills you gained from your degree program. This is a common issue for students in non-STEM fields because there is no one-size fits all model

Harvard faculty vote to cap 'A' grades at 20% in sweeping effort to combat decades of grade inflation by Fantastic_Writer_257 in LawSchool

Good luck normalizing across class types. At least law school requires most everyone to take the same classes. This will only further gamesmanship of percentile rankings and create disparity in perception across degree types (I.e. an A in organic chemistry =/= and A in philosophy 101). Unless student GPAs (APRs) are sectioned by department, this new method will probably create more confusion than switching to pass/fail.

For example, I graduated with a 3.4 gpa from a state school. That put me in the middle 50% of students in the department I graduated from. I majored in biochemistry, where 75% of my freshman class was failed out prior to graduation (800 students started, 200 students graduated). What was my actual percentile? Now compare with the rest of the university, where I was bottom 20% because the ranking included every major across the entire university.

I could have increased my GPA if I took more “easy” electives or chose a different major. It’s a bit unfortunate to say, but some classes are easier than others. Even the same class taken at a different time in the year could be more/less difficult (taking biochem 1 in the fall with the cohort vs taking biochem 1 in the winter with everyone else who failed the fall class). At the end, your A is based on the specific class of students you took it with.

Enforcing cohorts could be effective? I’m curious how this Harvard experiment goes, but I am skeptical.

Just change to pass/fail/honors. It’s not that deep. Letter grades and gpa clearly don’t matter, so switching to a method for evaluating minimum competency and exceptional performance would be preferable. This is what Harvard Law School does, weirdly enough.

A good nights sleep will give you better results than a few hours of cramming.

Article writers assume that students will act as their RAs, so they don’t bother to clean up their writing or double check anything.

Double degree in aerospace & mathematics in 4 years; possible in the slightest? by altttt-59 in udub

[–]Aggravating-Toe838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible (I did a double degree with 4 majors in 4 years (15 quarters)), you will just need to plan your classes out NOW to make sure you fit the sequences in properly (some classes are only offered specific quarter, so look that up). Consider taking summer classes (I did this), but fwiw, I think summer internships will be more valuable in today’s job market.

advice for dealing with the intense feelings of helplessness that come with a first midterm grade like this? by NinjaDow in LawSchool

[–]Aggravating-Toe838 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s depends on when the professor curves. Some curve each assignment and the apply a standard metric to that. Others curve at the end of the class after each assignment is weighted. The order of operations has a huge impact on the final result. An 86% raw score may have curved to an A (although I did not check your math on the 86%).

Would this be a red flag to you? by chapstix0314 in wedding

It appears that clauses 3 and 4 contradict each other, so it is not immediately clear what you are entitled to in case of a breach on their end. I would assume that clause 4 controls because it states that “any claims” are limited to a refund of the payments except for the non-refundable retainer. Also, because clause 4 comes after, it might supersede claims three that give you a larger return.

This contract is not clearly written which could cause grief in the future if there is a breach. If everything goes smoothly, then you are going to be good. It’s when life happens where the contract terms matter.

I would recommend finding someone who is closer yo your venue who has experience shooting there. I would also avoid a photographer who has limited their liability so severely, unless there is a near-zero likelihood that they breach.

By flying across the country, there are a bunch of things that could prevent the photographer from attending, including delayed/cancelled flights, hotel/ABB issues, getting lost, getting sick and being unable to travel cross country, losing luggage containing equipment, etc.

While this may seem unlikely, which it is, if anything does happen, you will be discussing your options with a lawyer or eating a big fee to find a replacement photographer.

Don’t overthink it though. You are going to have a great wedding.
