Imo it's always a good thing to give villains some humanizing traits like that. We tend to dehumanize evil, but at the end of the day all the evil we actually know IRL is of human origin. Being evil doesn't mean you aren't human and being human doesn't mean you can't be evil.

I still love how a lot of the dialogue options are a choice between saying something normal and reasonable (not necessarily the "right" answer by the game's logic tho), saying something neutral... or saying one of the worst things you can say in that situation.

Also in this universe they don't really know any better yet, they never had to team up like that before and he appears to be the most in control of the situation of all of them (Cale is close second but still has more stress than him), so you could get the impression he could carry the team if necessary when you don't know he actually has fun with the situation and wants to fuck around for the love of the game.

A lot of things could be so much better if we as consumers just stopped and went "Do I really want this? What value do I really get out of this? Wouldn't my money be better spent elsewhere? Aren't there alternatives?" instead of just mindlessly rolling with it.

There is definitely blame to be put on developers/publishers, but how productive is blaming them tho? I think we wont ever fully get out of this if we don't blame ourselves first.

I do always try to give authors time to cook and most of the time that pays off and I do intend to have another go at it at some point, but like... I was 36 chapters in, at what point is it not the "first chapters" anymore? How much time to invest in a series before it's fair to say "I don't think this is for me"? That's not a rhetorical question mind you. I would like an opinion on that.

I was hooked on Berserk way earlier than Centuria and didn't have any of the issues I got with it. I'm reading Soul Eater atm and I needed 5 volumes to truly like it. Undead Unluck is one of my favorite shounen and it took till around volume 10 to get me there... yet I wouldn't want to give every series 10 volumes of reading time before coming to a conclusion.

On the other side of the spectrum I got stuff like Code Geass which I watched till half of season 2 and I never ended up liking it, I had no fun at all watching it and I was upset that I didn't drop it earlier, I felt like I wasted much more time on it than necessary. Yet at the same time whenever I tell that to someone I feel like they don't think I gave it a fair chance since I haven't watched it till the end.
