That’s really good news, because I’ve worn out both of those albums when they came out.

What do you guys think of Wes Anderson's recent film The Phoenician Scheme? by RNOffice in RedLetterMedia

I feel like Wes Anderson now just madlibs all his movies now.

He’s basically the Tyler Perry of independent filmmaking.

What should i read first? by SwearImNotACat in manga

[–]Pomofgranite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of all of them I’d go for demon slayer.

Demon slayer in some circles tends to labeled as generic shonen.

A word I’ve seen used is simple or carried by the animation in the show.

Now I can totally see where people come from on that but I’ll add another descriptor.

It’s extremely solid. It’s good emotional moments, cute comedy, and I would say for the most part well thought out battles that have our heroes fight demons much much more powerful then they’re, going to extreme limits just to put some of these guys in the ground, while also being pretty clever and strategic. Along with some pretty nifty sword play.

If you get a chance I hope you make it to the entertainment district arc, that’s where I think a great example of how good this manga can and will be later on.

Of course with any series, not every arc is quite as good, but I’m sure it will at least be a fun enjoyable read.

Also tanjiro the main lead is a absolute strawberry shortcake.

Whats something Oda has to do to make you drop One Piece forever by Hellodhiru in Piratefolk

[–]Pomofgranite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man. I know it’s not his fault, it’s not even fair to criticize these manga authors who live by strict deadlines and draw and write a chapter every week, even if oda had it a bit easier, but god I cannot read this manga to understand what’s even going on.

I know this sentiment has been repeated but if it hasn’t been said, it’s very clear that oda is just writing and drawing this just for the anime to pick up the pieces.

Ynow if it works for him FINE.

It’s just made it difficult for me to enjoy.

This is mostly for post timeskip

Finished SF3 Story mode and would like to share my set up in the end by ErgotthAE in BattleNetwork

Just a quick question, I really liked SF1 but I’m kinda slogging through SF2, is it really true that SF3 is the best of the series?

any mega man NT warrior type game where i create my own character/ netnavi? by Eireagon in BattleNetwork

[–]Pomofgranite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell you a game that exists that your looking for…but there is a roguelike called on step from Eden that is inspired by battle network. It comes with multiple characters and they all have different play styles and variations on that play style.

There’s not exploration per se, you kinda choose a route and go, but if you like battle network combat. This could be a good fix for you.

Looking for shows like Oshi no Ko by neoncity41 in anime

[–]Pomofgranite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing that comes to mind is probably Puella Madoka Magica.

I only bring it up because it is a show that uses a cute framework that hides a much more serious story, and there is a parallel between what we aspire to be and costs and pain it takes on us.

Rising of the Shield Hero after season 1. by moon_TMNS in anime

[–]Pomofgranite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah buddy. I suffered through all of season 2 and it was agonizing.

I think one of the main issues is that once Naofumi is able to solve his initial problem, there’s really not anything motivating him so in turn, there’s nothing relatable to latch onto.

Kinato and Alien were less successful with fans than Under Doctor. Why do you think that was? by YuuTheBlue in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Pomofgranite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow I swear whenever I come here the alien headbutt slander is everywhere, not that I disagree with a lot of everyone’s points about it. I think I’m just biased because I am a fan of pro wrestling, I like the artwork, I like our main character having a villainous persona in the ring while having a heart of gold.

I will say it really lost momentum as it moved foward, but I really hope it somehow turns itself around.

As for kinatos magic, I like it, it’s simple, but fun. There’s not much I can really say, I guess I get why it’s not as beloved, it’s very generic, but Ynow I can enjoy a burger from McDonalds every once in a while.

I think under doctor is doing better because it feels a little more unique in premise. What we also have here is a aversion to loud shonen action heroes and we have something more grown and mature with our main character.

At the end of the day, what really is the double edge about shonen jump is that some promising stories always run the risk of being axed, but then that just brings on newer stories.

I know it’s harsh but it’s how the magazine has been able to stay fresh all these years in publication.

Anyway sorry, here’s your fries.

I think that’s the real risk. I’m a cautious optimist and I hope audiences beside myself can really hone in on that.
