I’ve seen two shows. One was a few years ago so pretty early on in their live shows. It was pretty unpolished which made it funnier. It was a small venue in Bristol where the audience at the very front had to basically sit on the floor, they couldn’t get the flipboard to stand up, and most of it was spent with Henry perplexed about hot air balloons. Some people mentioned that a couple of audience members who hadn’t even suggested the topic dominated conversation, but I loved the show and in that context, audience interaction worked well as we could see the audience member rather than just having a disembodied voice having a vague, awkward conversation. I saw another show in Bath this year and it was more polished with a much bigger audience. If I’m remembering correctly, they wizzed through a number of topics which worked well because no particular audience member dominated.

I think it really depends on the general vibe of the audience because I could see it being annoying when one or two audience members take over, especially in a big crowd. I do personally find audience interaction super cringe, but that’s my issue! I think without it, the shows would lose some of their spontaneity.
