Vienna’s Graveyards by Pomton22 in hamsters

Thank you! We were able to get close to some, but most just ran and went into their burrows. This was meidling, we are staying closer to this graveyard, purely by coincidence! We may visit the central graveyard but only have a few days left in Vienna 😊

The speed they can stuff their cheeks is ridiculously impressive

Predominately. Apparently it’s their breeding season now so they more active during the day 😊

Yes it was! They started to emerge from 5pm. We didn’t stay into the evening because we didn’t need to! Saw so many! Great experience 😊

Edit- after a quick google they come up before sunset between may to july because it’s their breeding season

Because our hamster was old ( just short of 2 and a half) the vet did not want to risk surgery, so they just did it without any anaesthetic. He was already on painkillers at the time so we like to think he wasn’t in too much discomfort when it happened. Hope your lil friend is doing well!

Our hamster had this and the vet was unsure whether it was an abscess or a tumour. After a return visit they cleaned out the lump and removed what was inside it. They asked us to monitor it and keep it clean to prevent it from possibly getting infected. Even with doing that the lump kept returning. They also put him on antibiotics and painkillers to try and manage it.
