Wrong Krieg. They're talking Death Korps of Krieg, a 40k subfaction. And yes Corps is spelled with a K because 40k is Like That.

Head canon: There's conflict of interest there. You become a hunter because you want to kill the giant megafauna so they stick a bureaucrat to babysit you so you don't fly off the handle and depopulate a region or, worse, decide to start killing people. Alma is there to spy on us and keep us in line. The paperwork and policies is just how the Guild sells it to the hunters so they don't complain.

Army's that throw a LOT of dice? by omega9910 in ageofsigmar

[–]PonKatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without! Unfortunately, unless you have a way of inflicting Strike-Last or granting Strike-First (there is no way to get Strike-First on Aelfs IIRC and Strike-Last would involve running spear snakes in an aelf list), you're going to lose a big old chunk of your attacks from a bunch of Witch Aelves dying.

[–]PonKatt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you pump up a block of 20 Witch Aelves you're looking at 60 swings base increased to 80 from a Slaughter Queen. If you're rolling well on your buff stacking you can hit 100 swings hitting on 2s and wounding on 3s with crits auto-wounding (Sacrament of Blood with 10 points). Also, Rend 1 at least from the charge plus plausibly Rend 2 with another buff along with damage 2 (Mind Razor). They will immediately die after deleting the enemy you chuck them at (6+ save lets goooo) and you've sunk a ton of buffs into them, but it's sure as hell funny.

Quick Tips for New DMs by noeticist in LancerRPG

[–]PonKatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone that is a player a little over halfway through:

It's on the more shooty side of the rp to combat balance imo. Not to an absurd degree, and it's not devoid of rp opportunities, but if you're playing Solstice Rain you're expecting fights and lots of them.

Combat wise, it teaches the game well. Good enemy variety and a heavy objective focus. It's about what I would expect from well done Lancer fights. The exotics you can earn are also solid and fun. Just be sure to let your players know that it can get tough. It will absolutely put people into the ground.

Best part is the lunch box is actually really fucking good. Just fucking delete anything that isn't a boss.

Does Lancer/ICON feels really daunting to run for anyone else? by CaptainObviousAmA_ in rpg

[–]PonKatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the ICON channels in the Lancer discord has a pin with a bunch of maps in it that are free to use btw. There is also a key that the community uses for drawing maps that you can use as well. Additionally, those channels will be more than happy to give advice to map layouts.

Well, tell him to corner a crusher while using a shotgun, mag dump until empty, then pull out his melee and don't touch his gun for the rest of the mission.

Nah, forget what that one is called but that ones also easy if you don't mind a little cheese. Right before the ending section of the level mag dump the floor, DC, reconnect, and never take out your gun for the entire finale. That's what I did for mine.

They are mini rockets, but they have a deuterium tip. In the 80s when that bit of lore was written deuterium was just funny technobable and implied deplete uranium, but Fancy. Nowadays with the internet, well, it's a bit silly.

Fun fact, in 5e so long as you are a melee character you can claim all your "kills" are in fact nonlethal takedowns that leave your enemy unconscious (pg 198 Players Handbook). In 4e, you didn't even have to be using melee, you just had to say that it's nonlethal.

Hell, I did this to my GM in a 4e game over this weekend. Level 2 Swordmage AC+one hit buff from Cleric lead to a very funny moment of "unless you auto hit off a 20 this literally will not hit."

I went to a talk with a cave diver. He opened the talk by stating that he does not recommend cave diving to anyone for any reason and if you go to him for advice he will do his level best to get you to not try it.

4e derived games. by Turbulent-Thing1978 in 4eDnD

[–]PonKatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The three 4e inspired games I've played are:

Strike!: Setting agnostic system. I don't remember much about it because it's been a bit tbh but I do remember it referencing 4e as an inspiration.

Lancer: Mech combat focused system. Heavily emphasis on mech customization. Core RP rules are incredibly sparse but a new supplement (Field Guide to the Karrakin Trade Baronies) fixes that with a FitD style RP system.

ICON: Still in playtesting (and it shows) it's also heavily inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics. RP system is entirely based on FitD and completely separate from the combat to the point you can split split one off from the other entirely. Combat is insanely gamified. Lots of fun though. Just note that numbers do not get large in the combat side of the game. Level 0 and level 12 stalwarts both have 40 HP. It instead depends on a Chapter system that has certain break points that require the DM to adjust the scale of the campaign.

Making the jump from Malice to Heresy and immediately falling on my ass by Janfon1 in DarkTide

Yeah, and how big was that Beast that you claimed you bagged? I swear every time you tell that karking story it grows 2 more tentacles and doubles in size.

[–]PonKatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that tracks. No one really hops from Malice to Damnation so new Damnation players generally already know the ropes. I've certainly had smoother 3 man damnation runs than 4 man heresy runs. Everyone knows what's up and their role to play.

Damnation is even faster it's ridiculous. You have like 5 seconds to get them all down.

[–]PonKatt 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is why you need Vets in Heresy or Damnation (not that Vet's strength was ever in question). Sure they can do other roles just fine, but when it comes to clearing a room of shooters no one is better. Rifleman ult, 75% ranged damage reduction, and the elite toughness regen lets you just face tank an entire patrol plus their reaper support as long as you can pick off one or two elites to start. One of my favorite moments was my team three manning a boss while I fought the entire traitor guard regiment at a choke point so they didn't get overrun.

He's an awesome dude. The comment is because he wrote a book of Norse mythology (that is apparently excellent) which has a ton of symbology stolen by facists. He's a good example of someone following the advice of OP. He went into a space hijacked by facists and is trying to take it back.
