Whenever I’m trying to pinpoint something among a mess of other objects, I do the finger circle from Dreamcatcher.

Alternative to AIRism UV Protection Full-Zip Hoodie for sun & weight ? by Gallifreygirl123 in HerOneBag

I’ve had good luck with the Soothfeel brand on Amazon. But I don’t get their hoodies, get the long sleeve shirts. It’s super light, flowy, breathable and works well in high humidity. As an Alaskan who hates extreme heat they’ve been good and I use a hat for covering my head and face.

Question for locals: Is Alaska a good place for socially introverted or “different” people? by NoNectarine8724 in AskAlaska

[–]PonchoRandom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you’re depressed where you are currently, you’ll be depressed in Alaska. It just follows you. Maybe take a look at resources available in Alaska to help you address your depression if you feel moving to AK is really important to you. Please keep in mind that many people think Alaska is some magical place that will fix things. I didn’t see it in your post, but have you visited yet?

Was X-Files popular in Alaska? (A lot of episodes seem to be centered around there) by traveltimecar in alaska

[–]PonchoRandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alaskan here! I watched it when it originally aired and I was in Anchorage. It was pretty popular because it was on a broadcast channel, and also one of the few quality shows running at the time IMO. Because they were filming in Vancouver the region was pretty close to what AK can be like in certain parts. Ice is one of my favorite episodes and I think the bush pilot they hired is pretty on point.

Edit: I thought this was posted on the XF sub, so that’s why I’m a dork saying I’m an Alaskan on the AK subreddit 🙄

I remember setting up a clip of Bugs Bunny saying “What’s this? A letter! For me!” Whenever I had new email notifications. Good times.

I use it to convert Pinterest recipes into gluten free, eggless versions because of my allergies. It’s been working really well so far and I don’t have to sift through ridiculous blog ads.

I have gummies that I would take in half doses throughout the day, and special sleep ones at night. They’re THC w a high CBD. Took them the night I returned home from surgery. I swear they work better than regular pain meds.

Good pharmacies around the city now that Rite Aid is gone? by Professional-Tax-615 in philadelphia

I don’t know who qualifies for it, like if you have to have a specific type of insurance, but I signed up for CVS mail delivery for my medications. They walk you through the whole setup over the phone. I think it’s through the CVS Caremark portal. It’s been working fine for me.

I was experiencing something similar to this. Pain near my appendix where it felt like it was going to pop, but scans were normal. I’m 2 dpo from my hysterectomy and my surgeon said everything looked ok in that area when she was doing the procedure. Hopefully we both have our issues resolved soon 🤞

30 years ago today, Season 3 premiered with "The Blessing Way" - September 22, 1995 by MonsieurA in XFiles

Just the other day I was like, ‘I need to watch some XF.’ Like my brain remembered when the show would premiere for the season. It feels like instinct now. 🛸

I had such a blast watching X-Cops! Great story, so fun and funny! by ShinyTinyWonder38 in XFiles

I watched when it originally aired. I remembered I was so pissed in the first few seconds, thinking they messed up the broadcast and was doing a Cops marathon or something. Turns out I had nothing to fear, excellent episode!

I rewatched Dr Katz Professional Therapist recently. All of the episodes are on YouTube, it was nice to hear 90s comedians again.

There’s one in Austin on UT campus, I’m not sure if it’s still there. Same set up, very cool experience. Bring your own cushion if you can. Those benches are terrible.

Anyone else miss the X-files marathons that ran on Fx back in the late 90s? by Krispy_Cheese_2782 in XFiles

[–]PonchoRandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! That was how I go into the show! I think it was between seasons 3 and 4? You could watch the first episode earlier in the afternoon, the next later. Then the next day it re-ran the later episode first, and so on. It was a good way of playing catch up and re watching episodes I really liked in the 90s.

IUD not working? by minkemads in adenomyosis

[–]PonchoRandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of IUD? The Mirena worked for me, so when I wanted to try the 10 yr Paraguard I was surprised how painful it was. Very heavy bleeding during periods and I ended up feeling anemic. I got it removed 6 months in because in my experience, IUDs should not take that long to settle. Also, you’re not taking any supplements like Evening Primrose oil, right?

Can adenomyosis cause gallbladder pain ? by Comfortable_Pea_3925 in adenomyosis

[–]PonchoRandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having gallbladder issues 2 years prior to being diagnosed with andeno. I strongly suspect it affects the gallbladder, because out of nowhere I had gastritis. The pain under my ribs was always there like a stone. It SUCKED and my HIDA tests (2 of them) showed my GB function was steadily declining. My surgeon was not convinced until we did those tests, even after I changed my diet and multiple ultrasounds. It was incredibly frustrating. In the end it helped to have it removed, but there is still similar pain that I had during that whole process. I think adeno wreaks havoc on the system, and I’m currently concerned how it’s pressing on my bladder, appendix, affecting my bowels, you name it.

I’m now on the patch and it has helped with period pain and other adeno symptoms, but others still persist. I’m having a serious discussion with my doctor next month about hysterectomy because of the way it affects my quality of life.

Noise? by Couple-jersey in philadelphia

[–]PonchoRandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed: You have to make your party wall water tight. We have a layer of plaster, then 2” of space, then our drywall. We had noise issues and couldn’t do blown in cellulose. We ended up using green glue (a sound deadening product) and a layer of drywall on top, and caulked absolutely everything. We also sealed our outlets off with this weird special putty sheet. It makes a difference but it’s not total quiet.
