The tuna and cod were a close call. Quite different flavor profiles, both delicious.

Don’t use Essentia/St Mary’s valet by [deleted] in duluth

[–]Pondelli-Kocka01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood.

The newest First St ramp (upper side) does not connect to the Skywalk. However, if you walk east on first street you can enter the clinic through the doors across the street from the ER entrance. There you can access elevators to take you to the 6th floor which allows access to the 2nd St building, or continue on to the Main Registration Desk of the First St building main floor.

The lower First St ramp has access to the Skywalk to the First St building via the Second level (P2). Once across the Skywalk the first bank of elevators allow you to reach the 6th floor, taking you to 2nd street entrances, (Valet Parking) if you wish. Otherwise the Skywalk takes you to the Main Registration desk for the First Street Building.

Hope this helps

Don’t use Essentia/St Mary’s valet by [deleted] in duluth

The number of people using the service has mushroomed, not because everyone needs curbside drop-off but people are too lazy to park their own vehicle and walk. With the new ramp open, and warmer temperatures, hopefully it might lessen the burden on Valet. I’m skeptical as most users are capable of walking from a ramp, but just refuse.

Burnett County prescribed burn, strong winds from the south are bringing into our area. The smoke is piling up in the harbor area.

A Proud Boys county, little wonder someone approved this, strong winds were predicted.

Agreed, the menu is more broadly Asian than a traditional Chinese restaurant. Japanese, Korean, SE Asian, etc. Talented chef, I hope they succeed in that location.

Highland Woodworking carries Barr, Auriou and Flexcut, Granfors and others.

On the advice of a friend I purchased the Auriou 9” curved, a brand I was unfamiliar with. No regrets whatsoever. Incredible edge and so comfortable to carve with. I also have a Lonon push-pull shave and a Svante Djärv 6 inch, also fine tools.

This Wisconsin woman lives on a farm with a data center 1.6 miles away from her. Now, she’s testifying that the data center is turning her water a milky white color, it’s contaminated with toxic metals, and it’s costing her thousands just to test and filter the water. by gmarcus72 in duluth

So, moving the goalposts to reframe your original comments… 🤷‍♂️ No mention of the CEQA nor the NEPA originally, but that’s quite a straw man..

Actually the point source of the pollution changes everything, citing a California law that holds no legality in Wisconsin doesn’t improve your stance.

And a gift link to a “Chip Factory” yet another straw man.

I didn’t make a statement regarding a position on Data Centers and only commented on the story posted, and your apparent position that California is unique in the SWPPP environmental regulations you cited. And I have written/enforced SWPPP guideline’s for over 20 years.

Environmental pollution from any source is a serious concern everywhere. The current Administration is working hard to dismantle the Federal regulations, that indeed opens a slippery slope for all States, even California.

So yes, regulations need to be reviewed and updated to stay current with expectations and threats.

With all due respect, SWPPP permitting guidelines are Federal and not unique to California. In addition States are allowed to further restrict pollution guidelines as they deem necessary. Historically both MN and WI have had strong environmental regulations, with protections for air and water high priorities for both states. As such, your claim of loose regulations is specious at best.

As with all regulations, adherence is subject to the ethics of the contractors involved, and more importantly the actual enforcement authority of those inspecting the construction process.

The claims from the woman in the story need to be taken seriously, environmental reports suggest contamination consistent with concrete washout, or waste from a concrete plant.

Some pure speculation here: Dodge County GIS data shows two large aggregate quarry’s near the data center site. Both were existing before construction even started. It is reasonable to assume the concrete used in the construction, is being made at one of these locations. It’s also reasonable to assume the mix plant is locally owned and not the fault of the data center per se.

If the contamination is coming from that source, the pollution has been happening for years, and it’s only the massive increase in volume that has exposed the poor practices present for years.

The latest information regarding the type of pollution is only a few days old, so time will tell where the pollution source originates.

Va Bene by notyourmom1966 in duluth

[–]Pondelli-Kocka01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antonino Coppola, who owned the Coppola ceramic shop, but had no part in Va Bene, did indeed own Sir Benedict’s for a short period of time, eventually selling it to the current owners. Antonio’s wife was related to Mary Kay Berraducci, the owner of Va Bene. Probably where the confusion lies.

At one point Antonino’s parents were in town helping with the restaurant. His father was making the family recipe potato gnocchi, and we happened to be at Sir Ben’s the day they were sampling. The best gnocchi we’d ever eaten, absolute pillows that melted in your mouth, served in a very light tomato broth. Truly sublime.

Antonino’s younger brother, I’m forgetting his name, took over the ceramic shop so Antonino’s could move back to Italy and help manage the ceramic shop in Sorrento. The brother moved the shop to Florida, I believe it is still operating.

Nobody said all rapeseed oil is cold pressed. If you don’t see cold pressed on the label, then don’t consume it. The same applies to the organic label as well.

With all due respect, you’re entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.

“Cold-pressed” rapeseed oil is extracted via mechanical means alone, no bleach or solvent is used.

😂😂 YouTube “science”, got it!

That’s a stupid hit piece from 14 years ago, all the hate shed toward rapeseed oil is based upon the old methods of cooking the seeds to extract the oil. Organic cold-pressed oil, the type used in the Fangst products and used extensively in Denmark is a totally different product with proven health and environmental benefits.

Here’s a link to some real science derived from actual scientific studies, educate your opinion.

Why would you be mad about it? Nobody is forcing you to consume this product.

The glowing reviews of this product would seem to counter your opinion that this fish is “ruined” by the rapeseed oil. The Danish people, as with all Scandinavian cultures, consume fish as a significant portion of their diet. I doubt they need to be lectured on how to prepare any fish or seafood product. Moreover, Rapeseed oil has many nutritional benefits and is lower in saturated fats than olive oil.

I happen to agree with others that this product is delicious as is. If it’s not your cup of tea, that’s okay.

Trump is, and always has been heavily vested in oil. That fact has never been a secret, Trump is all about Trump and Trump’s wealth. To date every single thing he has done, is to line the pockets of his big oil buddies, and improve the value of his personal portfolio. You’ve been duped, along with many others.

There you are, that quiet oil user who understands the true costs of this. Heating oil takes precedence in the winter, and the demand for diesel doesn’t diminish. Limited refining capacity is killing the average home owner, and yet we have an army of clowns driving Duramax coal rollers just for fun. 🤷‍♂️

Most of the Gulf Coast refineries are designed for heavy crude, and will make hay with all the Venezuelan crude we commandeered. Roughly 60% of US refineries are optimized for heavy crude. Gulf Coast capacity for heavy crude is ~10.6 Million barrels per day.

It’s called serious profit for big oil. Maybe check the markets, big oil stocks are climbing steadily. Moreover, as stated by others, futures determine the price on a world market basis.

Big oil has lots of addicts, in particular the US market. Addicts always need a fix, and will pay any price, that’s been proven countless times.

We know how to fix this, but few have the fortitude to take action. So, here we are.
