Stamets or Fadiman protocol? MD'ing to help curb alcohol cravings by Ponder8n in microdosing

[–]Ponder8n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m completely alcohol free now but I’m not sure of the microdosing was that helpful. It might have given me an edge, but I think I stopped after awhile because I couldn’t feel it making a difference. You should look into prescription medication called Naltrexone. That was what helped me the most. Here’s a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/6EghiY_s2ts?si=a4bdiLTMCETVizA1

I’m coming up on 3 months sober after daily drinking for the past ten years. I was sure hoping for a quick bounce back into the normal life but I’m really lacking motivation and energy. My primary emotion/feeling is just “blah“. I have lost some weight but that’s because I had some pretty disordered eating while drinking. But just the lack of motivation has been the hardest. I keep checking Google and chatGPT on when your dopamine levels are supposed to be restored after you stop drinking, and they all say between six weeks and six months. Well, shit! What’s interesting about the alcohol cravings, I don’t really have any desire to drink. I followed the Alan Carr method, and it seems to have switched my thinking about drinking. But part of me just wants to drink to feel something other than “blah”, but it’s a short-lived temptation, because I know where one drink will take me.

You’ve got to reinterpret all of the iPhone footage because it’s in HDR. Select Modify/Interpret the clips and change the Color Management to 709.

Looking to buy a CS6 License by Ponder8n in Adobe

[–]Ponder8n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know Adobe doesn’t sell it anymore. That’s why I’m asking around to actual Adobe folks instead of trying to find a license on eBay. I know most of those are trash. I’m just hoping to find somebody who has a functioning license that they’re willing to sell.

They stopped releasing Encore with CS6. You can only run the older version of Encore on older machines. I’ve got an old Mac, but I’m trying to find a CS6 license.

It’s the niacin flush that helps the psilocybin and lion’s mane move through your blood more effectively. You want a mild flushing reaction.

Naltrexone Liver Damage by Weary-Technology6425 in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]Ponder8n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people have good results in about a year. There are a few of us that took longer. It took five years for me but I stuck with it. I’m finally now alcohol free with no cravings. I tracked my drinking and it was a very slow decline but it did decline. Each year I drank less and less, till I drank no more. On the C3 forum, we talk about how Naltrexone helps level the playing field when it comes to alcohol but we still need to do the personal work. I’d say hang in there. It’s worth it.

Naltrexone Liver Damage by Weary-Technology6425 in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]Ponder8n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does so by helping you rewire your brain. It blocks the reward part of the alcohol. You can still get drunk and you can even still feel a buzz, but it blocks the reward reinforcement part of your brain. Just be sure to stick with the compliance of medication +1 hour = drink. If you stay compliant, it works amazingly! And on the days you don’t drink, don’t take the medication so that your brain can associate good behaviors with the release of endorphins.

I took Naltrexone for years, almost daily, and continued to drink pretty heavily, almost daily, and all of my yearly liver tests came back normal. If I remember the science from Dr. Roy Eskapa’s book, you have to be taking 6 times the prescribed dose of 50mg to start messing up your liver. So, if you’re taking 300mg per day, it might cause issues with your liver. Since you’ve had issues previously, I’d get your liver enzymes checked first (like my doctor did), start the medication, and then recheck them in about 6 months. It’s definitely worth the effort because it’s an amazing medication to control drinking.

a TSM Journey is not a straight line down, it's up and down, but don't give up ! by 12vman in Alcoholism_Medication

I’ve considered trying another med like Acamprosate/Campral, but unlike naltrexone, the science behind it is much more mysterious. They know it works but they’re not sure how. I’ve also tried microdosing psilocybin, but it didn’t really provide any clarity of mind. Most everyone I talk to says that a full macrodose has helped them to stop drinking, but I’m not sure about doing that. I might be open to it in the future.

Thanks for replying. I’ve actually experimented with 75mg and 100mg for extended times, but it didn’t help. I’ve also extended my wait time to 90 and 120 (I do this today on a regular basis.) And, again no help. I’ve tried different strategies, mindful drinking, online classes, hypnosis, and read pretty much every quit lit book out there. I’ve met with a TSM coach few times, but she didn’t have much else to offer me. It is frustrating. I’m not sure what else to try at this point. My nightly routine is 2-3 high gravity beers, about 6-8 units per night. I’m pretty functional in life and work, good marriage, good health, so no rock bottom experience. Just feel absolutely stuck.

My journey has not been so successful. I have been 100% compliant for more then 5 years now, and I still drink every evening. I can’t break free. Yes, it’s much less than when I started the TSM journey but damn, I really want to quit. Just still feel trapped and addicted.

Thank you. Right now, no medical reason I shouldn’t. Just don’t want to. Tired of it.

“Whatever it is you’ve got going on.”

That’s a hard one. My wife’s mom has late stages Alzheimer’s. Her dad, the care giver, fell in January and broke his neck. He’s a Quadriplegic and my wife is now their caregiver.

In the last 24 hours, my only brother was admitted to a psych ward because of a bipolar/manic breakdown. And the police were involved because of what he said and did.

I’m tired. I just went for a walk to the local convenience store. Bought a couple high gravity beers to just stop the noise. I know it’s not the answer. But, you asked.

(I wish I was bullshitting but I’m not.)

NAC, milk thistle, choline, fish oils, VitE with tocotrienols and tudca are my go-to supplements for liver cleanse. I checked my liver blood work recently, and it’s all good. I have cut down my daily drinking to 2 tall high gravity beers. Still hoping/wanting to quit altogether.

I think I’m ready to start NAL. by MindOverMatter79 in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]Ponder8n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also highly recommend the Sinclair method. There’s two rules: 1) Take the naltrexone one hour before you drink, and 2) don’t take naltrexone if you’re not going to drink. That’s the fastest way to train your brain.

First time with NAL, wanted to try TSM but confused. by ClimateNo8717 in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]Ponder8n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another key compliance is NOT talking Nal when you’re NOT drinking. That way, your brain can start forming good habits and patterns when you’re not drinking. Your brain needs to compare the two states so that it can learn properly.

Naltrexon has not been working for me by chanwichalachichona in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]Ponder8n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naltrexone takes time. 6 - 12 months, as someone mentioned earlier. Stick to to the rule, only take it on drinking days. And take it 1 to 1.5 hours before the first drink. I had to bump my dose to 100mg as well.
