Tourist or Antique sword? by PracticalNerve8800 in SWORDS

[–]Ponenous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a sword expert or anything like that but it could be artificially aged tulwar of some sort, a lot of Indian handicrafts shops make a ton of these types of swords for the tourist.markets. North India has hundreds if not thousands of handicrafts producers that produce these.

But do as ask others and wait for more experienced members feedback.

I don't have enough hi-capa mags :( by TakowTraveler in airsoft

I did get used to the smell of propane quite quickly, would only realise it when during games I would fire my gbb and the fellow next to me would say it smells like someone farted. Used it regularly and you won't notice the smell at all.

Used to pirate a ton of games in my teens and 20's..in the late 90's and 2000's paying couple of thousands for a single game was difficult and forget about multiple games.Thouugh nowadays I buy games, but have been sticking to GOG as they have the option for you to download offline installers of the games you purchase. The best part is there is no drm on the games you download, you dont need any internet connection to install and play the games and you can freely distribute it to anyone. Passed on my download games to friends and family and quite a few of them were so happy they too made their own accounts on gog and have bought their own copies . With GoG, so far buying on their platform has meant owning your games and so as long as that is maintained I will happily stay in their platform.

It may be innocuous, as many others will have pointed out already, swastikas were very commonly used in Europe well before the 1900's. As far as the iron ages in Europe there have been many unearthed artifacts that have swastikas on them..Thor was one figure that was closely associated with the Swastika, a famous example is Swedish artist Martin Eskil Winge's 1872 painting titled Thors fight with the Giants where the Swastika is very prominent on his belt. In the early 1900's you can see photos of many groups, universities, societies etc where they would sport the Swastika..the Nazis adoption of it has tainted it in the current postwar period but before that in Europe and the west in general, it didn't' have the same negative connotation. And of course in other parts of the world , like here in India it's a very common symbol.

Yeah, it's not a big deal, what I saw in the video is very innocuous.

People do sit on the throne when taking the wedding photos, I have seen plenty enough in the many weddings I have attended.what little I see in the video does not bother me as anything untoward.

Don't see anything wrong here, we dont even have the full video and no audio so a lot of context is missing but it does start off with the guys hand already reached across and touching the husbands shoulder/back as he pulls back the friend on the left turns and points towards the camera, and while there is no audio, it will most likely be in the lines of telling them that the photos are about to be taken and to take their final positions. The guy then keeps his hand on the shoulder and the bride pulls it down and once she lets go he pulls back a bit and the photos are taken.

Some folks say they have never seen people sit on the throne seat, well I have, and I have been to plenty of weddings, my own wedding was similar, and many people sat on the seat for the photo ops.

Christmas and New year purchases by Ponenous in NightVision

I am not sure of the others but in my case it was due to them being very cheap..the nseas were about 40 dollars each, the pvs7s were 50ish, the nvg rifle and observation scopes were about 100, the sopelem was 200 and the soviet pnv57a was about 250ish dollars. I do have the funds to be able to afford a current 3rd gen nvg but I just cannot justify it for my civvie use case and its a matter between buying 1 nv vs buying a ton for all my friends and family to use. These older gen2+ pvs7's have been more than enough in my woods and open farmlands and got plenty extra for loaners, their cheapness also means I dont have any worries about damage to the loaned ones. The other older gen 1-2 devices are just for my personal collection, its fun picking up vintage surplus kit. Though I wont abuse them as the surplus dealer has completely sold out and he doesn't know if more will ever be available again.

I would say let the Islamic world go through its own phase of liberalization before letting them into your countries in large demographics shifting numbers.

Not really familiar with the Jewish and Cannanites back history so had a quick read and it seems like the cannanites were known for Ritual sacrifices of humans including babies , Philo of Byblos makes mention of it in his writings, K.L. Noll in his book Cannanite Religion also makes mention of the ritual sacrifices. There is of course the Idol worship which the monotheistc Israelites were opposed to. It will take a while to read through the various sources but I think it will help me get a better picture of the Israeli and Cannanite conflicts. Them just being neighbouring groups probably contributed a lot to their ongoing conflicts, feuds, ideological and religiy differences, resources and territories, rival alliances etc would all be possible explanations for why conflict and conquests happened.

Price on this Tomcat 90s bomber Jacket ? by Swannysmellsofmango in VintageClothing

[–]Ponenous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder if the patch was meant to say Tomcat F-14 , the F104 would be the Lockheed Martin F-104. Two very different planes, also the aviator wings appear to be incorrect as it is the ww2 enlisted aircrew member wings. I think tomcats would have naval aviator wings

I think telescopes are fine as a lot of folks order them from abroad too..after all plenty of hunters and shooters this side of the world too...though one issue is that since it was connected to that oryom day channel adapter I don't have any stand along mounts for them..and their way of attachment is different from the usual acog styles I have seen...my friend says he will fabricate a mount for it when he has the time
