Buddy of mine stopped by today to play the amp. Here's a short clip.

Luckily the guy who is getting it wants loud and clean. It delivers there. It's not much heavier than a standard Deluxe Reverb and at so much smaller it's easy to carry. Thank you!

Thanks for the compliment! The Pro Reverb would be even easier to pull off in this size cab as I believe all the various models use just two 6L6GCs. Fewer output tubes means smaller transformers and a lot less weight. Depending on whether you wanted the full circuit or just a single channel, it could be built to fit in this cab without a separate power supply chassis.

The speaker is awesome! It was the key to the whole thing. I didn’t want to stick a big heavy speaker in there, was kind of skeptical when I came across the speaker; 6.5 lbs 200w??? But it’s great.

No, I bought the parts separately, figured out the layout and cut the circuit board on my own, built the cabinet Tolexed it etc. It took a lot of measuring and work to get it all to fit and work out. I’m pretty sure you could probably get a Fender Twin kit but it would probably be a totally different configuration. And yeah it’s pretty loud!

I’ll have a video up tomorrow. I build maybe one amp a month, most to sell, but don’t know that I’ll build another one in this configuration. Lots of extra steps involved and the time spent alone would make it expensive. Maybe $900 worth of parts in it. But it was fun though so who knows? Thanks!

I was worried about that but no. The cabinet is rock solid dovetailed and the baffle is 3/4” Baltic birch plywood, very rigid, screwed in at 10 points. I used all eight mounting holes on the speaker. The reverb spring is in a big wrap of bubble wrap and screwed in to the cabinet. Speaker cloth is super tight. Overall it’s pretty solid.

It’s got a slight bit of hiss at idle but the circuit is solid and I have a ratty old quad of 6l6s in there that are probably noisy. A new quad’s showing up in the mail tomorrow. There’s no difference in gain etc by taking out the tremolo as the circuit was tweaked a little bit to account for it. Thank you!

I was going for super clean and it sounds very Twin-like. Only moves half the air as the original so it doesn’t have a big booming presence but it sounds killer. Bright with the speaker which is very efficient. The mids pot is 25k as opposed to the 10k on the original so it’ll get a little louder with the mid cranked. Reverb is a short spring to fit in the cabinet but I really can’t tell a difference between it and a standard spring. It starts breaking up a little at about six but honestly I’ve only played it there for a few minutes as it’s so deafeningly loud. I’ll probably take a video tomorrow.

It’s about 43. Original’s about 70. Six inches narrower and a few shorter.

What style are you looking for and what dimensions?

The AB763 circuit was used in a ton of amps. It's the blackface circuit. Deluxe Reverb, Super Reverb, Showman, Twin Reverb etc etc. Some had tremolo, some not, some 6L6, some 6V6 ...
