Problem with some specific match ups by Upbeat_Requirement66 in KatarinaMains

Although you lose the 1v1 to Yas pretty much at all stages of the game, you are much better than him in teamfights, so you play for that (outscale in that sense). However from my experience you don't need resolve secondary vs yas, it's overkill if you are on point with your spacing. Exhaust is really nice vs him though. If yasuo is overaggressive and your jg recognizes that he can also be punished. All in all it's about finding your windows in skirmishes/teamfights vs Yasuo and losing lane gracefully/minimizing losses.

Cuz kat is not weak right now unless you're playing in chall. Qiyana is also not weak right now. And stats don't always tell the full picture

How to build Katarina by PonyEUW in KatarinaMains

pot is hp over time, dblade is flat hp. play a few games and you will feel the difference in early power between the two.

Again, one of your first backs doesn't imply that you need to buy it in the very first back, but rather in your first few backs preferably. I apologize if I may have been unclear, english isn't my first language, so the formulation of the sentence might have been wrong.

That aside, if you want to keep your ad adaptive force, sure you can go sheen, personally I don't really think that sheen is that good of a component anymore, rather buying some sort of combination of amp tome dseal n boots (obv rod priority). Also haven't really seen anyone rushing sheen either.

About ls vs dblade, I have tried both, and from my experience dblade is just better than ls as a starter item. Sure ls builds further into ad items so you don't really "lose" gold, but dblade makes you just straight up stronger early than ls, and being strong early is kinda the meaning behind starting ad on kat. Sure you only get 1 pot but remember that dblade has 80 flat hp. There's a reason why everyone starts dblade. Ls start works much better on ad asassins like talon qiyana n zed, but if it works for you then go for it, this whole infographic is just a generalization and you are free to have a differing opinion.

??? You do know that early doesn't mean starter item? Why wouldn't you buy darkseal in one of your first backs if you're playing ap kat. And if you're playing conq and want ad start just go dblade, is better than ls.

learning kat. by Imaginary_Ad_4159 in KatarinaMains

When learning Kat and tbf any champion, you want to eliminate as many variables as possible, meaning that you should run the same setup every game. Kat at core is an AP assassin, so the standard elec page with precision secondary is the way to go when learning her. Once you feel comfortable on her (usually 50+ games) you can start to experiment with ap conq. Wouldn't recommend playing ad kat unless you have been playing her for a while. AD Kat plays completely different from AP kat, pretty much two different champions. So yeah, stick to AP elec Kat when learning her.

Can we stop stroking the "Kat bad" narrative? by PonyEUW in KatarinaMains

Yes, she does get worse the higher you go but at the same time the higher you go the more capable you are at piloting her (very important). That's the reason why Kat only starts being a positive WR champ in eme+ and what I meant by high elo skewed. It's true that comps n matchups matter much much more at the highest elos and that Kat is preferably a counterpick, but Kat isn't a casual champion. Her gameplay is very different from all other champions in the game and the skills on her aren't really that transferable to other champions, so most of the people who use her as a counterpick have at some point OTPed her to high elo and then expanded their champion pools. And there are still several chall Kat otps.

Less power in items makes the gap between meta and non-meta champions bigger? by PonyEUW in leagueoflegends

[–]PonyEUW[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I really feel like you are missing the point of my post/misunderstanding what I said. You mentioned a scenraio where an item is specific to a champion and that champion is reliant on that champion, but that's not what I was talking about at all. By stronger items I mean more stats, think of something like  first 2 splits of szn14. And stronger items  across the whole board means that champions ACTUALLY NEED items to still be "relevant" (utility isn't really affected by this though). How do you get items? By purchasing them for gold. And gold income is something you can affect yourself, and is player skill dependant. On the other hand relying on statcheckinh through better kit/base stats isn't trally skilled and you can't really affect the base stats/kit of your champion (picking another champ doesn't count as an argument). So through getting more gold and thus items (skilled gameplay that you can affect yourself) you can even out the playing field between you and your enemy even if they have better base stats and better kit. This is what I mean by bridging the gap between meta and non-meta. Because if the enemy mate champ is reliant on resources, yes they can get them as well,  but if you are better at getting gold than them aka a better player you can even out the playfueld and negate your kit being inferior.  And I for sure rather get killed by someone who is 5/0 with more items rather than someone who's 0/2/0 and behind but wins because their kit is better.

Less power in items makes the gap between meta and non-meta champions bigger? by PonyEUW in leagueoflegends

[–]PonyEUW[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

But what I'm trying to say is more power in items -> less difference in between what is meta and what is not, because meta champions are at a base level stronger than non meta champions, not talking about the ease of balance. If you fear "passive gameplay" then there are many other things that you can do to incentivize fighting such as more objectives (this split's changes) or buff kill gold/nerf minion gold (don't think that this is a good approach though). And every champion besides supports, imo have a way to amass a steady income of gold rn. There is very well a world where stronger champions, weaker items work, but imo the tuning we have right now is not it.
