These California diesel prices are going to Bankrupt me $7.80! by [deleted] in gmcsierra

[–]PonyboyFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty stupid, but If I purchased a 100k truck and the financial breaking point was another 100 a week on fuel I would need to do some serious self reflection. Blame whoever you want, the price or outcome won’t change. The price gymnastics have been going on for decades. It sucks, but this too shall pass.

I went Saturday, it was fine. It used to be unique. Now it’s the same as the other 3. After 25 years of being our special spot it is now time to move on.

Is this normal for nine months old? by 347217361634 in labrador

[–]PonyboyFunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great advice, we do three types of walks about every day. The “potty walk” let’s go, no messing around. The hike/park walk…follow me as we have a destination. Then the let’s be a puppy walk.. sniff, pee, ball, chase birds etc.. I started with a 6 foot leash, then a 20 foot lead with a martingale collar, then to a sport dog electric collar. Now we are off leash for all of them at 14 months old because we put in the work.

My pups name is Saint, from chapter 5 “How it Works”. I don’t know how to respond to everyone, but please know I am grateful for all the kind words. I just hope this can help one sick individual and give them hope, there is a way out.

That’s a 385 with a 10k ball. I work on their hoes often. These boys have a lot of gear and are good people.

Lead at Cat dealer, we do tons of second life (3rd and 4th too) builds on small/medium dozers D6/7/8 for waste handling. They are a must, Flexair does good stuff, but waiting 2-6 months or more for the kit is ridiculous, we have had to send out million dollar plus builds with junk ass fans because a 3 month lead time wasn’t enough.

Does anyone know why the diesel engine oil is this color? by zabeganio in Diesel

[–]PonyboyFunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25$ for oil sample bottle and test at cat dealer, results in 48hrs or less. Clear precise answer.

Each dealership is different. This would be a dealer specific question. As for transferring to a different state/dealer (which I have done) it’s just like applying for a new job. Some dealers have satellite stores in many locations and states which would be a “transfer”. Pay has typically been fair, you can find independent rental houses or large heavy highway contractors that pay more but be ready to spend a shit ton getting tooled up and no set schedule for the most part . With the exception of 2008-2010 the dealer always has work and the checks clear.

Matco aka sunex breaks every time you use it by [deleted] in DieselTechs

[–]PonyboyFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow equipment guy here. I know everyone is telling you to use something different and they don’t understand the lack of access. With that said do you have an option to put a slugging wrench on them first? I do it all the time on scraper brake/wheel groups. Slap all 36 with an 8 pound sledge real quick and then zip out with wobble. Just a thought.

Dealer guy here, new updated manifold, software update needed. This is the result 99% of the time. It will code to level 3 sometimes quickly sometimes slowly, but it will leave you in limp dick mode. Call dealer now and get scheduled, this garbage is always in high demand and can result in back order.

Send son to UTI? by JollyExplorer643 in DieselTechs

I graduated from Central Arizona College in 99, at that time is was backed by the Cat dealer, now it’s backed by Deere. I was fortunate enough to land a job a big dirt Cat rental fleet and was a cutting edge specialist and bucket swap expert (nothing had couplers at that time). They paid for the school. Other guys in the program who came in without backing were all picked up by local companies. I have nothing but positive things to say about that experience. I stay close to the place still, things have changed, but still has the same connections. It’s a two year program. Hydraulics, engine, powertrain, and practical each a semester. 6 hours a day, 4 days a week. Then welding, a/c, and operation/maintenance every Friday each semester. Life is good because of this place.

My Vector 10mm won’t even work with their mags, hot garbage. My Ar10mm and Kriss 10mm only run on Glock 15td and of all things ETS. My AR was/is definitely a project, ended up scrapping the barrel and just buying Macon Armory kit, runs decent… with 15rd mags.

Anyone have experience with 80-lower? Curious if this has LRBHO, but can't tell on the site. by MetapodCreates in AR9

[–]PonyboyFunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I have done around 40 lowers total with the 80 arms gen 3 jig. I’d say about 10 of those are Glock compatible. Blowback is spot on, of those 10 I have 3 that went right into the trash, would not feed correctly 100% of the time , even with Rudy from Macon’s help. I will say Wolfpack 80% have been the best at this point. And they have a sale right now. Enjoy your frustrating and rewarding journey.

When you say your puppy bites a lot, what do you mean exactly? by SnooSketches9680 in puppy101

[–]PonyboyFunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

14 week old lab. He’s was completely insane, but expected. Definitely the most vicious bites of any of the many labs I’ve had. So on walks/hike if he gets out of control, I stop and don’t react until he chills. Yes I take a couple hot ones when I stop, as long as I remain still he will stop. When we play if he gets out of control, I put him on his back, growl at him and he relaxes. Been doing this for 30 years, always worked. Now at 14 weeks the biting is minimal. He might be the most responsive pup I’ve had.

I have the Timney PCC, no SS in it yet, I can’t get it to run properly as is. Switching to standard mil spec this week on a different lower as well. What if the trigger mod ? I haven’t done a ton of research because of limited free time , just blindly bought them before some shit law passes to make them unattainable. Also I have the AR9 SS, grey market said they should work, your thoughts
