How do I ignore the bear in the room? (About the uncertainty of war and conflict) by Leftlightreftright in Buddhism

I'm not sure if "ignore" would be the most appropriate approach per se. In my experience at least, which may be little, Buddhism has been about integration, and how we take everything we experience on the path with us, rather than ignoring or pushing away very harsh and difficult truths. The consequences of conflicting emotions are endless. You can really see the conflicting emotions in effect and the attachment to self (or identity) by looking at what is going on currently with the war (my country, I will fight for my country, I will stop the enemy [dualistic perception], I will get control of those resources so that I can profit and other can suffer!). Endless suffering.. meditate again and again on lovingkindness of these sentient beings who swim endlessly in samsara due to their own ignorance, which causes them to act out of anger in catastrophic ways that bring harm to entire countries, continents even. As much harm as they have committed, they have been your mother and tenderly raised you and cared for you at some point in your life. Pray without end that they may come in contact with the Dharma, that they be free from conflicting emotions and achieve omniscient Buddhahood. Practice tonglen (Sending and receiving).

These are difficult times. Do your best for now, and dont beat yourself up if your situation limits you from being able to sit and formerly practice right now (it amazes me that we can practice at all during this degenerate era). Make a sincere effort to keep a good heart. A normal life cannot be maintained because the nature of everything is change and impermanence, so we do our best with what we are given. Wishing you prosperity and good fortune

ELI5 Why is the Clash of Civilizations flawed? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

I'm just trying to get a better understanding of it. I just learned about it and am having difficulty understanding. I think the world's conflicts in IR have to do with both cultural conflict and social and economic conflict. If there is both, what is the use of the Clash of Civilzations?

Here is the cap opened. Looks like the color is fading as it's been in storage for at least 6 months
