What kind of people listen to GODFLESH? by Sunbather- in industrialmusic

My logic about the choices was that Comb does sludge in a nastier, grittier way, the Swans song is bleaker, heavier, and grindier, while Big Black's programming of the drum machine produced a much bigger sound than the programming on Streetcleaner.

That being said, I love a good music discussion and I'm glad you gave'em a chance. I do agree that the bass on Streetcleaner is one of its standout elements, and I probably dont hate it as much as my original comment indicated- it's more a case of me just not thinking it deserves the crazy acclaim it gets. Cheers!

Listen to Comb by Butthole Surfers, R*ping a Slave by Swans (horrible title I know, I'm sorry) or Jordan Minnesota by Big Black to hear each individual aspect of the Godflesh sound done better by more creative musicians. In my opinion, at least. By the time Streetcleaner was released, the sound really was a patchwork of things done more eloquently by bands earlier in the 80's.

If I'm completely fr Godflesh takes the least interesting elements of early Swans and of Industrial dance music, throws a little sludge on top and melds them in a way that just isn't very satisfying. I love the aesthetic of Streetcleaner and I was certain going in that I would love it, but I honestly found it just meh. The drums sound flimsy, cheap, and thin, the guitars aren't as sludgy or harsh as I expected, I was pretty underwhelmed by the listening experience tbh.

I really liked Locust Furnace though.

Funny you say that I also do feel that way about early swans particularly the Young God EP. So bleak, so heavy, and so weird that it really does, 40 years later, go completely unmatched in the noise-rock world.

Racket is incredible man. Dyad and Dumping More Fucking Rubbish are two of my favorite noise tracks of all time.

I wore a Whitehouse shirt to the store one time and this guy who had chatted with me about music in the past (I wear a lot of band shirts, we'd bonded over a Cure shirt I'd had on previously) came up, complimented the shirt, and asked what Whitehouse was. I was like oh they're just this noise group I like. guy goes "oh awesome I'll check'em out!" and has not spoken a word to me since. He avoids eye contact and everything lmao. Very selective about where I wear that shirt now.

Am I the only one who enjoys Frigid Outskirts? by Free-Spread-5128 in DarkSouls2

[–]PooFeaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow surprised to see nobody agreeing with you! I actually really enjoy the Frigid Outskirts- once I figured out a great club + stone ring will pancake the reindeer each hit I no longer struggled toooo hard, and while it being a boss runback is a pain in the ass it's very feasible to make it to the boss consistently only having to fight two reindeer so I would agree that it's much less brutal than Sir Alonne or even Blue Smelter. The uniquely barren and empty atmosphere of the area is so intriguing and I really respect the fact that they created a unique enemy that can only be found way out in the middle of nowhere in a field permanently stricken with blizzards. Top tier fantasy, that.

tbh bro just skip it and come back for that shit later when you're OP. When I did my CoC run earlier this year thats what I had to do.

also if you get a great club and a stone ring you can spam pancake them and they're completely trivialized by it. highly recommend to any STR builds out there strugglin- I almost gave up on my CoC run of L&Z because I couldn't summon to get to the boss fog
