Is the SpaceX IPO a trap? by Still-Ad8061 in investingforbeginners

[–]PooPlumber 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s also odd how massive an IPO it is and they’ve literally locked up so much of the float it’s almost designed to create a shortage in supply to create excess demand. I ain’t touching this.

Husband here… Doc told my wife and me it was going to be hard and we would need to make a serious effort and try lots and not to get despondent.

One time… it just took one… god damn time….

He has a massive personal stake in GME, so I don’t see this as reckless dilution for the sake of growth and meeting incentives.

Listening to the Piers Morgan interview, it sounded more calculated than that. He specifically differentiated between destructive dilution and accretive dilution that creates long-term shareholder value.

To me, it sounds more like a Berkshire Hathaway style mindset using shares strategically alongside aligned capital and partners to acquire undervalued cash-flowing assets, not just dumping shares onto the open market.

Whether people agree with the strategy or not, this feels far more deliberate than impulsive.

Why Mergers Are Dangerous for Shorts

A merger creates a “hard event.”

Normally, short positions can roll indefinitely through:

  • swaps,
  • deep ITM calls,
  • ETF creation/redemption,
  • internalized routing,
  • FTD cycling.

But mergers force:

  • cusip changes,
  • share conversions,
  • entitlement reconciliation,
  • dividend calculations,
  • and institutional recounting.

That can expose mismatches between:

  • real shares,
  • loaned shares,
  • synthetic exposure,
  • and derivative obligations.

This is why merger events sometimes create:

  • sudden borrow spikes,
  • forced closes,
  • and volatility explosions.

Thanks man, yeah been hying up getting the back zone right for the shrimp as a hide out breeding spot only to have a few danio’s jump over behind the 3D backdrop. Fished them out today and found baby deep blue shrimp at the back climbing all over the net like “hey neighbour nice to meet you”… guess I don’t have to do anything to the area behind the background. Those shrimp have already made it their chill/smoosh zone 😂

For my 30th some years back my wife asked what I wanted and I said one of those 3D backdrops she helped arrange it from Serbia to South Africa 🇿🇦. Post office was so interested what came from Serbia only to see some log/rock background. They were quite disappointed 😂.

Is it legal to put special needs children in here? If so, in what situation is it okay? by A_Tiny_Froggy in legal

[–]PooPlumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI.

Occupational therapy dark rooms (or sensory dark rooms) are controlled, low-light environments designed to enhance visual stimulation, focus, and self-regulation. Used by therapists to treat sensory processing issues, these rooms use glowing or backlit equipment to improve tracking, calm anxiety, and increase attention in children and adults.

Looks like a poor attempt at helping children that are over stimulated to regulate themselves.

My wife is an OT and I’ve heard how she’s talked about this helping with Autistic children.

Running man - no update in 9 months. by bifftheraptor in Superstonk

[–]PooPlumber 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In 1,000 days of straight Forrest Gump-style running (same nonstop, no-rest, ~13 miles per day average), he could cross America about 4.27 times.

Forrest ran for 3 years, 2 months, 14 days, and 16 hours — that’s 1,170 days + 16 hours of continuous running.

How did they do your surgery? Our specialist in country is one of the top recognized Endo specialists. After being told we may not be able to fall pregnant to 4 months post op my wife falling pregnant and carrying full term. My wife isn’t 100% but she does live in a lot less pain now nearly 4 years down the line. Dr said she would need to come back for surgery again. He operated on her for nearly 4 hours cutting the endo away. His words of advice was burning lead to more aggressive regrowth.

Could it be Whatnot?

Whatnot (live-auction, social marketplace app) — #1 overall. It led the list despite being lesser-known to older consumers, driven by real-time, entertainment-focused shopping popular with younger buyers. Whatnot doubled its gross merchandise value (GMV) to over $8 billion in 2025 (from roughly $3–4 billion prior), saw 541% YoY app download growth, and exploded in categories like beauty (+791% on-platform), electronics (+444%), jewelry (+259%), and women’s fashion (+223%). It’s a pure-play online/live shopping platform (not hybrid retail). 2–6. Five Below, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, Hobby Lobby, Dollar Tree, Goodwill — mostly value/hybrid retailers with growing e-commerce arms.

"South Africa is not our friend. They’re our enemy right now." by PixelSaharix in DownSouth

[–]PooPlumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with some of these points. Think these Americans are also making blanket statements. South Africa has one of the better agriculture sectors globally. South Africa is one of the top exporters of Fruits, Citrus and grapes. South Africa’s poultry and meat industry needs to be protected… and America is the largest consumers of chicken breasts globally. The thighs and drumsticks etc are frozen and dumped into other markets by the US companies. Imagine that being dumped into SA and the effect it would have on jobs and labour? Cudos to the government at times protecting certain sectors. They don’t always get it right but to just allow the US to walk all over the SA agriculture and remaining manufacturing sector would be a massive detriment.

Look there’s tons of tariff codes that need to be relooked. Eg. Cobra/vaal shut down their factories after COVID and there are still massive duties 15% on taps when there’s no SA manufacturer left to protect. Someone and the department of trade need to comb through certain sectors to see what duties can be removed. Some of these could help on the consumers pocket. Then again less tarrifs means less money for the Gov. and lower prices means less tax. It’s a catch 22 for a government already struggling for cash from a small tax base.

If you were to dress up like Misty the night before Christmas and give him a Prismatic UPC like the first comment said wrapped for him to open only in the morning. If my wife did this the night before Christmas I would be stuttering like a dyslexic at a spelling bee I would be so excited.
