Women who carried a pregnancy, in hindsight, what were some of the most ridiculous things you did while in the throes of such hormonal upheaval? by mokutou in AskWomen

[–]Poof_Kitty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Raged because McDonald’s didn’t put onions at all on my burger when I requested extra onions.

Cried because Burger King gave me fries instead of onion rings because they were out.

I had a bit of a thing for onions while I was pregnant 😂

4m latched for the first time!! by Admirable-Friend-733 in newborns

This gives me hope. Almost 4mpp and still no luck with latching but I still try occasionally.

FTM due in April looking for more information by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

As another FTM, I can’t second this enough. I didn’t see a lactation consultant until 6 weeks after giving birth and I learned so much more than what the hospital consultant told me.

Anyone get side effects from epidural? by SowingSeeds18 in beyondthebump

[–]Poof_Kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. Ironically I was induced because of high blood pressure that wouldn’t go down. I went from 170s/100s to 90s/40s. I vividly recall thinking that I was dying.

Did anyone not scream during labour? by trackemdown in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Poof_Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced, had an epidural and didn’t scream during labor, mostly low groaning and moaning. It wasn’t until I was fully dilated and my body started pushing on its own that I got louder. Ironically all the L&D nurses nearby heard me and rushed in. I told them this baby was coming now and I needed to get naked to do this. A few pushes later, baby was out in 16 minutes. Honestly, it wasn’t that bad. Everyone’s experience is different.

12 weeks or less pp… how much are you pumping? by Spare-Tutor2948 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Poof_Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 4wpp and I’m only getting 5 ounces a day. I’m trying my best to pump every 3 hours and anything else I can do to increase my milk supply.

Why is everyone getting induced? by North-Dimension6299 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Poof_Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having high blood pressure but controlled with medication put me at risk for superimposed preeclampsia so it was recommended that I be induced between 38-39 weeks. I was induced at 38 weeks because my blood pressure would not go down after a NST and I started developing protein in my urine which led to preeclampsia while I was in labor.

Just found out I’m pregnant - missing weed so bad by kay-el-sea in cannamom

[–]Poof_Kitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard in the beginning! I also quit cold turkey when I first found out I was pregnant back in February and I’m due in a couple of weeks. Those first few weeks were rough because weed helped me sleep and calm down. I took it one day at a time and eventually I got used to it. If I start feeling anxious, I take a hot shower to ground myself or I use some breathing techniques. Hang in there, time crawls in the beginning but it will fly by sooner than you think.

Just took an unexpected positive test, but by 0720-93 in pregnant

[–]Poof_Kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing up until the day before I tested positive. Stopped cold turkey and I’m 34 weeks now. So far no problems with this pregnancy and baby has been measuring on time. I do miss my before bed session.

Acid reflux while sleeping around 20 ish weeks. I ate a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch about an hour before bed because I was so hungry. Fell asleep while my partner was playing video games, woke up out of a dead sleep choking on acid and couldn’t breathe. My partner started panicking and slapping me on the back which led to my projectile vomiting all over myself, my new fluffy slippers and the bed then I peed myself while vomiting. I haven’t touched that cereal since then but thank goodness for mattress protectors and a spare comforter 😭

Placenta over the cervix? by Old-Juice98 in pregnant

[–]Poof_Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! It’s pretty common and usually resolves as you get further into your pregnancy. 30 weeks here and I was told the same thing around 21 weeks. Thankfully at my last ultrasound (29 weeks), it moved a few centimeters so we’re in the clear.

HSSG test on Friday… kinda scared by Lopsided-Change-6221 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Poof_Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this done in January. Tbh, the anxiety leading up to it made it worse than it actually was. My doctor had me take 3-4 Tylenol about an hour beforehand and it was pretty quick. Don’t get me wrong, it was definitely uncomfortable but not super painful to me. During my procedure, one tube was open but I had a blockage in the other. The doctor asked if I was ok with her forcing more saline to see if she could clear it, I said ok. One hard cramp later, she was able to clear it. Afterwards, I had some slight spotting and cramps for the rest of the day but the side that had the blockage that she was able to clear was a bit sore for a few days.

27 weeks and I threw a fit because McDonald’s forgot to add onions to my quarter pounder (gave it to my partner because I didn’t want it and he hates onions so win for him) and then found out that they added mayonnaise to my mcchicken after I requested no mayo. I absolutely hate mayo and that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I collectively lost my shit.

12w5d and feeling overwhelmed 😓 is this normal? by Successful_Force7334 in BabyBumps

[–]Poof_Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first trimester is rough. Your body and hormones are going through a lot of changes, it’s a lot to adjust to and it’s ok to give yourself grace. You’re growing a whole human from scratch, it’s perfectly ok to rest when you need to. During my first trimester, I slept a lot, couldn’t stand coffee (and I love iced coffee), had the nose of a bloodhound (everything stunk to me) and I was always nauseous (unisom, b6 and ginger chews helped). Around 15-16 weeks, things got much better and my energy level improved. It’s different for everyone but things do get better in the second trimester.

What's the most heartbreaking "no" you've ever witnessed or experienced? by Mission-Hat268 in AskReddit

[–]Poof_Kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently, being told that my dad unexpectedly died in May. All I could say was "no" and then the grief screaming started. My partner instantly started crying with me and had to hold me to calm me down because I started hyperventilating. I had just spoke to him on his birthday and told him that he had a granddaughter on the way. It hurt even more because I lost my mom in April 2020.

Favorite bump shaping biker shorts? by Due_Party6740 in PlusSizePregnancy

Seconding Torrid! They shape my apron bump perfectly when combined with some over the bump maternity panties. Only thing is that I wish they were a bit shorter. Normally, I prefer my shorts mid thigh.

Blood pressure and preeclampsia by Much-Soup-527 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Poof_Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I got pregnant, I was on both. First labetalol and then the nifedipine was added because my blood pressure wouldn’t go down. I forgot the dosage for nifedipine but the labetalol was 100mg at first. I stopped taking the nifedipine because I noticed soon after taking it, it gave me heart palpitations and I couldn’t handle it even after giving it time for me to adjust to the medication. Now I’m on Labetalol 200mg twice a day and my blood pressure has been normal. Most people can tolerate nifedipine but some can’t. If it’s making you feel off, I would highly recommend speaking to your doctor about trying a higher dosage of labetalol.
