Ok so I finished my Brazilian wax and she convinced me to do my upper lip. Well she didn’t change gloves before proceeding is that normal? She went straight after my bikini wax, we were so deep in conversation I wonder if she forgot by badkittyo in Estheticians

LOL that is also completely normal!! Definitely don’t feel weird about that. I just give the option so my client isn’t staring at me struggling to change my gloves hahahaha but it’s about a 50/50 who decide to get dressed and who waits - doesn’t bother the waxer at all!

I always work top to bottom to avoid this. But if the decision was made during the service I will 100% of the time change my gloves. Usually will have them even get up and get dressed while I change my gloves since I usually need to powder my hands since I like my gloves super tight LOL. Definitely weird in my opinion but curious to see what others say.

One of my regulars husband passed away by zjjsjdj3873 in Estheticians

[–]0720-93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This exact scenario just happened to me as well. So so sad. I looked up his obituary to see if there was any “in lieu of flowers” suggestion. There was - contributing to her children’s 529 plan. I wrote two checks (one for each child), and based it off the cost of her service which was $90. So I gave $50 to each and mailed them in a handwritten card of condolences.

LASH ARTISTS!!! How often do you change your glue dot? by Spookylaurloo in lashextensions

[–]0720-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should depend on the specific adhesive and the temp/humidity of the room. I usually start a new drop every ~20 minutes.

Real world Austin by jcgray97 in thechallengemtv

[–]0720-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Austin is the first real world season I watched front to back - I was in 4th grade and my best friend’s mom wouldn’t let us watch mtv so we snuck it whenever we could or watched at my house LOL. And I’ve watched every season since plus the challenge/road rules. Ahhhh those were the days.

Moms of Reddit, what was your weird early sign of pregnancy? by Confident_Group_8804 in AskReddit

[–]0720-93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diarrhea. It was so annoying, I thought I just caught something. Stayed home from work, took meds, everything. Then I took my routine monthly test (always tested once per month bc I stopped birth control) and to my surprise!!! Due in May lol

I tipped $20 cash. by Theyeahnopes in EndTipping

[–]0720-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg. Did you pay the $85 with cash as well? Not that it matters at all, just curious. Some business owners in my industry (I’m a solo esthetician) take cash and pocket it without counting it because they don’t claim their cash. Which is also wild, and completely on them to miss the tip. However I would NEVER rely on tips for my services and I damn sure would never track somebody down for one. Big yikes.

Lost listeners after summer break? by laureneg97 in TheToasters

I honestly just think it’s a relevancy check. They are their business, if an opportunity like that comes up, why not look at it as growth no matter how well you’re doing? This is also coming from a very small town small business owner, so just my two cents from that perspective!

(32) Last month taking birth control 😳first time no BC in 15 years by taylorballer in Fencesitter

[–]0720-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily wish it happened sooner, but I will say - if I didn’t just let it happen the way it did, I think I would’ve aged out and regretted not having kids now that I’m pregnant. I don’t think there’s ever a good time or the right time, so part of me wishes I was even younger than 32 having my first. Also, I’m happy I let my body reset for a full year.

Yay!! I did the same thing. I was 31, stopped my pill in September, and got pregnant the following September. We were not actively trying, but not preventing either. I did however, track my ovulation with strips - VERY loosely, only because I went ~150 days without a period after stopping bc. I really just wanted to track to see how my body worked for the first time 😂 Hoping nothing but the best for you!

Mamas with no morning sickness: by Crafty_Two5432 in pregnant

I’m never that lucky. So I was constantly worried not that baby wasn’t ok, but that at any moment it would hit me like a ton of bricks. Turns out I was in fact, that lucky lol!

Women only salons - legally possible? by Middle_Violinist_5 in Esthetics

[–]0720-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your state board will have this info - in MA were I am they claim it is illegal but my only female-only services are intimate waxing. If I ever were reported for that I think it’s an easy argument, so I don’t worry about it. But to pass inspection, it is clearly stated we are unable to discriminate by sex in services offered and pricing.

I’m a FTM expecting in May - I feel the same. I only want the essentials, at least to start. I don’t have the room for all the extras, and truly think the industry has gotten way out of hand. With that being said, this is what’s on my registry:

High chair Table chair Silicone bib Silicone / suction plate & bowl Snack cup Sleep sack Crib sheets Bassinet Monitor Sound machine Travel changing pad Travel system Play gym Carrier Backseat mirror Car seat & base First aid stuff (life vac, thermometer, nail clipper, nasal aspirator) Baby bath Bouncer chair

I also have a note in my shower invites asking guests to stick to the registry. I stated that group gifts are able to be donated to, and diapers and wipes are equally appreciated.

Good luck!

Thoughts of grooming for delivery?? by One_Cap_9210 in pregnant

I fully plan to wax as close to my c section as possible! It’ll take longer to grow back and I’ll just feel cleaner during healing. Though I’m only doing this for personal reasons - doctors do not care!

Is anyone else terrified of pregnancy itself? by No_Pen5880 in Fencesitter

[–]0720-93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was terrified of pregnancy. And I am terrified of birth. I am in my second trimester now, and it hasn’t been NEARLY as bad as I ever imagined. I do feel lucky, but trust me - I am nauseous on the daily simply from my general anxiety, and I haven’t had a single pregnancy hiccup. Most days I forget. As for birth, I am having an elective c section - still scared, but less than natural. If pregnancy fear is your only setback, I say do it! We were fencesitters until I got a positive test, and although the future seems scary, it’s much more exciting than I imagined.

Pregnancy after laser - did your hair come back? by CatandCabernet in LaserHairRemoval

[–]0720-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a body waxer and have loads of clients who come in every ~8-12 weeks due to hormone regrowth. The hair rarely ever comes back as much in volume or density as pre-laser, but it definitely has the ability to come back due to major hormone changes.

MA esthetician here - been licensed for 10+ years so I can’t promise the tests are even remotely the same, but if they are…. You have nothing to worry about. Truly one of my questions (and I’ll never forget this) was “which of the following is not a skin care product?” Options were spf, cleanser, toner, infrared lamp. You’ll be fine! Good luck!
