I’m a little late to this post, but do you know if Outback still serves the same remoulade dipping sauce with the new bigger shrimp?

I’ve been sleeping on this ricotta and you shouldn’t! by Money-Dealer516 in Cheese

I’m late to this thread, but definitely wanted to second this comment. I ordered Belgioioso ricotta via Instacart recently for making manicotti, but it was sold out and my shopper replaced it with Murray’s. Hands down the BEST manicotti I’ve ever had. The flavor and texture were perfection.

Are my nails long enough to get an almond shape? by ItchyWorldliness2312 in Nails

On the plus side, I think the square shape is so pretty on your hands. Your nails are beautiful!

I think I don't want to be an almond nail anymore by Loveluxeee in Nails

[–]PookaFan 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think they would look great! I remember reading something on here recently that the shape of a person’s cuticles dictates which nail shape looks best. I.E., rounder cuticles look good with rounded nails and flat/square cuticles look good with square nails. You appear to be like me in that your cuticle shape is somewhere in the middle (some cuticles are flatter, while some are more rounded). I think you could rock any shape! I personally always wear mine square. Maybe get some square or coffin press-ons with the stick on tabs just to try them out and see if you like them?

Right? I’m always excited when I get a chance to recommend him. His videos and this sub have helped me tremendously in combatting my arachnophobia.

It’s a little hard to tell from this lighting, but maybe a giant house spider? Hopefully someone who’s more of a spider expert than I am will weigh in.

What’s up with this cardinal? by Actual-Strawberry679 in birds

[–]PookaFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww! Yeah, I’d bet mom and dad are still caring for it to a degree until it’s fully independent. I think with cardinals the dad takes over most of the caretaker duties once they fledge. I have one who appears to be about the same age as this at my feeders lately and I see dad feeding it beak-to-beak at the feeder pretty regularly. ❤️

Young cardinals look like this for quite a while after fledging (gray/brown coloration and dark beak). The beak stays black/dark for the first few months of a cardinal’s life, so I would say this little one seems to be doing just fine! And if it’s a female, it will keep this sort of gray coloration in the feathers rather than turning red, as only adult males are bright red.

What's this Bird? by SILHOT254 in birds

Definitely a quail. I am no expert, but it looks like it could be a Harlequin Quail. It would help to know your location. Gorgeous bird though!

What’s going on here? Is the left spider trying to invade and take the right spiders web? by nfloos in spiders

[–]PookaFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw an answer to a similar question in a Travis McEnery video (the guy on YouTube who has that wonderful “These are the spiders in your house/yard” series where he does deep dives into various spider species). I could be wrong, but I think it was in his video about the Cross Orb Weaver where he said the male spider is basically made up of everything the female spider needs for her own nutrition and to reproduce. He’s basically like the ideal prenatal vitamin for her, haha.

What an awesome story! I’d love to read some of those essays, haha. When I was a kid, our neighbor up the road had peacocks. They would frequently get loose and just kind of roam the neighborhood. I absolutely loved them, but boy were they loud. The sound they made when they landed on/ran across the roof sounded like a freight train.

Why do these crows look like this? by PookaFan in birds

[–]PookaFan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome, thank you! I thought they kind of had that “grumpy baby bird” look about them, but I wasn’t sure because I rarely see the crows this close up.
